Overall: 5/10.

DISCLAIMER: I played this basically right after 100% Resident Evil 4 Remake (which is fantastic).

I found the game play really lacking here. The UI feels heavy, is clunky to adjust to keyboard/mouse - overall even on a 4090 GPU the game just felt slow and big. Customizing keyboard mappings had a delay which contributed to the feeling of an unoptimized port to PC.

Graphic wise, the HDR implementation is lacking. Colors do not pop at all like in RE4: Remake. So much grey and bland graphics/approach.

The story is 5/10 overall.

I'm forcing myself to finish the game but won't bother to 100% complete all achievements.

I will say most of this feedback is due to me just having played a fantastic RE:4 Remake, so others may find more value than I am with Village.

Really interesting perspective!

I also just finished RE4 Remake (4 times lol) and I'm loving RE8.

RE kind of re branded starting with 7. They wanted to breath new life into the franchise and bring back the horror aspect and I think this is why they went first person. Overall, I wasn't really a fan of it.

The old RE and new RE are very different and I found that I had to detach myself and shift gears to play 8. I actually played through the intro then put it down, decided I didn't like it. This weekend I came back to it and its simply amazing.

It runs incredibly well for me and looks great. I agree that the story is lacking but I would give it a 7/10 maybe.

BUT coming off the tail of the RE 4 remake will be quite a shift in both game play and overall atmosphere.
