Dark souls is an unrefined gem, it should not be expected to be perfect. The game is around 7 years old at the time of writing this and was a last gen title. Do not expect it to be perfect, do not expect the refined balence of Dark souls 3 nore the frenetic pace of Bloodborne. I would not recommend the remaster to someone who expected Fromsoft to elivate dark souls to that level of refinement and i feel such a thing goes beyond what a remaster should be. But for those who missed out on the game nearly a decade ago or were just unwilling to deal with the old version, I would recommend the remaster

I owned this when it came out on ps2 years ago and in my opinion it holds up visually. It may not have the high fidelity that some may be accustomed to but in comparison to other titles from this era it has aged well. In terms of the port to pc, the pc controls function well with the camera as well as the celestial brush being handled by the mouse. I wouldn't say its much better than with a thumb stick from a controller however and the brush spells in general work well they are still as finicky as i remember. Something that did surprise me was the implementation of the action prompts, smoothly transitioning from keyboard and mouse instructions to both xbox and ps4 control prompts seamlessly on the fly.

In terms of the game over all, very little has been changed, the game being preserved almost exactly as it was on the ps2 aside from a visual upscale. The game is stunningly beautiful, even more so now that the blur that permeated almost everything in the original has been addressed. As someone who enjoyed this in its hay day i am very pleased to see its been respected in its port to modern platforms and highly recommend it.

I had a surprising amount of fun with this game, from not just the intense action of space ship combat but from the style as well. The look and feel of the game lives in 80s, from the style down to the VHS Machine noise and scan lines you get in the pause menu. The game play is fast and intense but also difficult to master, but once you get the hang of it you will feel like a badass as you dodge enemy fire and leap over mechs. The controls are well laid out for the most part but i'd strongly recommend playing this with a controller as i found it a bit difficult to keep track as to where i was pointed with the mouse. As for the story theirs not much of it aside from a few cliches and jokes and you wont find a deep though out story if thats what your after.

You play as the lone surviving Pilote of the alliance after the empire wiped out your fleet and must protect your mother ship long enough for it to return to safe territory. The game is a rogue like as the game is spread out into a number of campaigns that consist of 5 missions, on Rogue difficulty you must complete each season on a single run without saving. As you play you acquire weapon and ship upgrades you find or buy it with salvage and just about anything you find can make a difference. Lastly if you do die, crash coins recovered from enemies will give you extra starting funds and if you have enough you can even retry the mission.

If your a fan of lovecraft horror as well as rogue likes i would recommend a look into this title made by Yhatzee Croshaw. The Consuming shadow provides a dark and foreboding atmosphere, finding myself drawn in as i fight off monstrous twisted horrors as my health and sanity slowly dwindle. The graphics are not much to look at but i don't feel that really detracts from the game but rather the silhouette style just adds to the atmosphere the game portrays. The game play i found to be harsh in the beginning but things became easier as i adjusted to the combat style and learned to pick up on the additional subtle clue's which helped to deduce the target god. additionally birth star which are perk points gained by leveling your character help gain bonuses at the start of every play trough make subsequent runs easier. the game dose get predictable but the addition of 4 characters with their own play style and a series of challenge modes dose help increase the games longevity.

Dont expect to get the same doom 3 experience of the original from this remaster. With increased ammo drops as well as the adition of the shoulder mounted light alot of the tension of the origional game is lost. Your never in danger of running out of ammunition thus making it easy to mow down the rather sparse number of enemies that the game throws at you.
If your new to doom 3 this probobly wont bother you and the addition of doom 1 & 2 is enofe to make it worth reconmending but for fans of the original doom 3's survival horror aspects may be disapointed.

If your a fan of x-com i strongly recommend this title. Xenonauts brings what was great of the original while at the same time improving where the original fell short. Despite that the game maintains a level of complexity comparable to its spiritual predecessor.

in my opinion dead space 2 is the best game in the franchise and if you've played any of the other games you must play this one. more guns, more suits and many many more enimies types to test them on. the game is also the only one in the franchise i found to be scary, adding a bit of psychological horror and pacing to the mix.

Dead space is an entertaining survival horrer experience with a setting that reminded me a bit an old classic from my childhood, system shock 2. The controls are fluid and the health and ammo readouts built into the charecter models work well and are inovative. The game is a bit scary and beware of jump scares if your startled buy them. A bit of advice though for if you do purchase thise game, disable Vsynce as its buged and for some reason makes the mouse controles unresponsive. Also if you intend to play it on hard or insanity, always load your save game manualy since for some reason using the continue option in the main menue can cause your game to reset to medium difficulty.

borderlands 2 is great to play with friends but playign solo could get boring. Has a good story and lots of quirky and often dark humor, thise and the charecters and there skill trees are jsut diverse to keep you interested. However if your just looking for a single player experience however i wouldent reconmend it.

Thise game surprised me. i didnt think i'd like it origionaly but the quirky cartoonish style an humor drew me in. Ther is plenty of missions an areas to keep you and your friends ocupied for hours, especialy if you get the DLC. However the game is a bit repedative, being that you mainly just run around shooting things and most of the story is told through text. The biggest problem with thise game however is that its multiplayer system is poorly implimented and for a purely co-op game thats a fatel flaw. some friends i've been able to conect to there games or vise versa some what reliably, others however it seems to be imposible for us to connect.
