starts out slow-ish, but gathers some steam later on. story is so-so, but not to bad. music can be pretty good. overall: better than expected, woth a try. esp when its on sale.

2023 review:
beatiful peacefull graphics (low-ish poly, but great art direction)
very creative story / sidemissions (compared to other releases of our current times.)

lacks comfort features of the later releases, but still a great game.

game of the year for me.

ballancing masterpiece - so many possible builds and ways to play this game.
allows for greedy high risk - high reward play, as well as more safe routes...
lots of genius small new ideas in one package.
will spawn lots of clones for sure.

2 player coop is very nice.
and runs great on older hardware

good at simulating boargames. and its possible to prototype own games.

really good mix of shump and vampire survivors endless monster waves.

totally my cup of tea.

Much better than it seems.
Looks like a cheap mobile knockoff at first.
But then you realise its areally genius upgrade to the match 3 genre.

The Board is much smaller than in the first parts,
but you can match gems for 2 seconds, gaining +1 second every.
If you plan well ahead, allowing you to match 5-6 combos in one turn.
If you fail, you only match 2-3.
This means that the game rewards thinking.
Also the addition of Stuns for matching a whole horizontal line is very genius.
You can prepare whole lines, to stun the enemy,

overall much deeper and tactical than the previous parts

also the sounds and music are compfy.

Its not pay-to-win. played 10 hours and can progress the story. no artificial roadblocks so far..

edit: it took me about 100 hours to finish the main plotline. i was taking it slowly. and i leveled a few new chars to get some free gems and upgrade material, as i had hit a wall near the end of the main storyline.

cons: the leveling of equiptment with materials and gems means that you cant experiment easily with different sets and spells. you have to upgrade to your level first. i just finished the game with the first set of equiptment that i had found.

pro: Overall a pleasant experience, definetly worth a try. and they are adding more story lines - extending the universe. but finish the base game first, as the story lines contain minor spoilers.

i dont quite get it yet, but its not bad : )

i would dare calling it a new genre of games.
Very fresh and new gameplay.

for some reason, i really like the story.
gameplay might be not as good as the other parts, but the simple, yet moody story is the reason why i come back to his game.
