It's exactly what you expect from a Madden game. I won't say critics are "wrong", but what they're saying doesn't apply to me, a regular dude who just wants to have a football game. Franchise works, exhibition works, and I assume multiplayer works (although I haven't tried it).

the intensity of the negative reviews is bizarre. i played through the original single player game years ago, and that alone was worth the low price i paid, although it definitely had room for improvement. this added content was completely unexpected, and the idea of getting angry bc the devs needed to generate income shows extreme levels of entitlement.

this is why as a dev i stayed away from the games industry, lol.

ultra-pared down "builder" game that is more about jurassic and less about park. gone through 6 missions so far and they're all pretty much exactly the same thing: build the basic base, go fly out to a waypoint, tranq a dino, bring it to a pen, add a few things to the pen. and that's about it. whooptie-doo.

not a terrible game if you just want something to do, but a lot less involved than most builders.

i still think BF3 was the best overall design, but it's aged at this point. this one is probably the best of what's left.

Well crafted, but not actually fun to play. Even on default / medium difficulty, you'll fail if you don't know what you need to do in advance and play it near-perfectly, according to rules you won't know until after the fact. Toward the end of the campaign, you're just playing out the hand you already have, and you have essentially zero freedom for how to proceed.

Worth it if you can get it for a few dollars, but I'm wishing I hadn't got the DLC, bc I won't play this much more.

the reviewers were not exaggerating; this game is extraordinarily dank

Early Access Review
It's hard to "recommend" this game at the current stage of development, but it shows a huge amount of potential. It reminds me of Eye of the Beholder series, which I have been waiting for a faithful re-representation of. It has a lot of good features, and I can see where the developer(s) are going with this. It's just not there yet.

To be completely honest, the game has multiple flaws, including: Too dark. Forced onto some kind of server situation, even though I think a single player approach would work just as well / better. Unclear UI.

I think the negative reviews are unfair. It's clearly marked as early access, and there's no charge to try it out.

probably best open world stealth game out there (including Hitman series). my biggest gripe is that you can't save and have to rely on checkpoint system, which just means you are playing in semi-ironman mode all the time. the checkpoints are sometimes pretty far apart so that can be annoying. apart from that though, which isn't really a criticism, it really holds up.

Fallout 3 gets a bad rap, but it's solid. it's a lot heavier on the 'wandering' part, and a lot lighter on the 'rpg' part than New Vegas, though, so it depends on what you like. Personally, there's something about the way this game is presented, especially the first half, that just works for me.

The game itself was/is good, but the community was even more toxic and racist than the average FPS, which is bad enough as it is. It's no wonder the game died after the initial hype. This is probably the last multiplayer FPS I'll ever buy, since developers aren't motivated to address the issue.
