UPDATE: I HAVE REQUESTED A REFUND FOR THIS GAME, SO THE REVIEW MAY NOT BE ACCURATE AFTER 8/12/2018

I bought this game in its Beta about two weeks prior to launch to play with a few friends. I got about what was expected. I got a game that didn't run perfectly, seemed fun, but felt a bit light on content. I was genuinely excited for launch day, because I was looking forward to all of the content that would be added between the game being labeled as a Beta to a game being labeled as a full launch.

That being said, I still have some gripes with this game, which I will happily edit out of my review as soon as I see that they are fixed.

  • Performance
I built my computer in December of 2017. I used hardware on the higher end because I wanted to make sure that I would be able to run new games for the foreseeable future. On my i7 7700k processor and my GTX 1080 along with 32 Gb of ram, I struggled to get 60 fps in game. Even when I lowered settings, I was fluctuating between 30 and 60 fps and getting weird artifacting on my screen. It felt EXTREMELY frustrating to have to try that hard to get a game to run with me putting so much money into my gaming rig just a few months ago.

  • Servers
This game suffers what I can imagine is caused by a small playerbase, but it is an issue nonetheless. Servers are either full, which will require a few minutes in a queue in order to join a large battle that feels like it can be fun, or they are barren, and the player count varies from 0-20 out of a possible ~80 players.

  • Content
The game advertises 40+ weapons and 40+ vehicles available in game. I have, in about 20 hours on the beta, gotten to use about 4 weapons and about 3 vehicles. Jumping into an empty squad as squad leader gives you a unique weapon, but joining a squad gives you your k98 rifle (or the British equivalent) 99% of the time. You need to join a squad at just the right time in order to make sure you can play as a special class before the limited special class slots get taken by someone else. This can be incredibly frustrating, because I played most of my time in the beta with one weapon. Maybe this is ok if you are a die hard fan of ultra realism in your games. Personally, it felt a little bland using the same rifle and the same equipment for almost my entire experience of the game.
As for the vehicles, they were too laggy on any server I joined to properly test out. I couldn’t drive them at all without rubber banding across the battlefield. I didn’t see a huge variation on vehicles either, which disappointed me. I think that each time I tried to hop into a vehicle to test out, it was the same 2 vehicles.
I’ve saved the issue that bugs me the most for last, mainly because it is a point that can be argued either way. There is no progression in the game. You get no reward for sticking through a battle that could last well over an hour if it is close and you push each point to the maximum time. This bothers me because I don’t really see a reason to keep playing a game if there’s not much to be working towards. Winning a game doesn’t feel super rewarding because you get a final score screen, and then thrown into your next match. It would be nice to see a way I could keep track of my progression throughout playing the game.

In the end, I wasn’t too upset by these issues in the Beta phase, because I don’t expect a completely polished game before a release, that’s why these testing phases exist after all. But now that the game is calling itself a full release, I wouldn’t pay $30 (or the $45 for the deluxe edition in my case) for what is currently being offered. I gave my money to this game because I wanted what was promised and advertised. I think that this game will be fine in time, but I definitely don’t think that the game was ready for a release with these issues and the content feeling a bit light. As previously stated, I will happily reevaluate my review down the line if things in the game change. I just hope that in the future, I will be happy I spent the money on this title, and not like I wasted it on a game that feels like its still a Beta title.

TL;DR Game still feels unpolished, and probably could have delayed release to stay in Beta.

It's 30 years later and the ghosts of the cold war return. The toxic swamps of Florida become the battleground for the 2nd Vietnam War. The Government's only choice is to thaw out the man they put in Cryo-prison for a crime he didn't commit. Not only must he contend with the blood thirsty and dangerous Cyber-Cong, but also Mutated Backwoods Cannibal Hillbillies, Overgrown Gators and a Rogue US Military outfit lead by a man who he treated like his own son. This time War just got personal.
