I've been playing this game since 2010 on and off and I think its a deep rewarding rich game with deep mechanics and base building that rivals any other game in this type of genre. The open PVP and criminal mechanics may put people off but you just need to know how to run away and use your environment to survive. I think most people are getting it wrong in that they don't build their wall right away and treat it like a true survival experience. It tries to mimic what reality would be and how you would be treated in a true wilderness situation with people around. The depravity of man will turn some people off, but for those who stay and learn to survive a truly deep and rewarding experience awaits.


Don't settle near water, don't make yourself a easy target, escape using animals to attack the enemy and get away. I have for the most part gotten away from hostiles 90 percent of the time. Half the people complaining about getting "griefied" and getting their experience ruined comes from a naive perspective that they would just be able to settle out in the open with a tiny fence and have nothing happen to them without building a wall for so long. Same with reality, you will be plundered. Once you learn how to adapt you can join a village, become the pirate yourself, or be a friendly hermit and establish a community. Without the fear of losing progress, progress becomes meaningless. Give the game a chance and pick yourself up if you die, you wont regret it.

If you like Kane pixel's backroom series you will love this game. Really good use of assets and atmosphere is 10/10

Play this game like you would a rouge-like and learn from every death. Progress feels difficult but satisfying. Choose broken Cahara build or Become enki and summon a skeleton army. Much variation for builds. Limb loss, bleed, infection, posion, etc. Once you learn how to play it will become much easier.

Its fun but having some problems with crashing and ♥♥♥♥ you wanna read up guides to see if you can fix the problem imma try to see if i can fix it myself but annoying that the game has technical problems

It was kinda barebones before the 1st patch but then it added a bunch of cool fixes, new items, new bosses, story elements. It is now patch 2 and they improved the story, added a new boss, etc etc. I think the end result of sons of forest is going to be a really good complete game and the future seems bright. If you want the full experience I would wait untill it near full release so you don't have to wait but the game as it is now is good.

Its not a bad game the only thing is your game will run in real-time while you are gone and you will log into things being messed with. Not a bad idea but its not what i expected and while I can understand why people would enjoy this mechanic I would have never bought this game if i knew of the feature. Be aware.

Pretty good so far living up to the dark souls genre with a open world twist and mount rides etc only thing is multiplayer is ass and if you wanna explore caves you need to disconnect then travel all the way to the area and meet up so it is good so far but multiplayer needs more convenience.
