Some bad reviews of this game boil down to high expectations and.... lack of skill
this game emulates LARPing more so than it does your traditional CRPG experience. How you play is entirely up to you.
for an indie game that is always on sale for less than 20 dollars this title is solid.
If you want a story focused game that holds your hand and offers you tons of inventory space and spells out what you need to do for you, this is not the game for you.
If you want a personal experience that feels like real RP mixed in with an interesting world sim, this is it.
As for bugs... yes there is quite a bit of them. However this is an early access game that gets a lot of updates. Don't hold that against the devs. The fact the game is where it is now is amazing.
remember every single Bethesda game takes years upon years to make and they are empty and full of bugs .

I see a lot of negative reviews that really just focus on how content is distributed and how dlc is purchased. Yes the standards and practices of how this game and its content is acquired is quite sheisty, however this has nothing to do with gameplay.
Rage 2 is a solid game with solid and addicting combat. Would I encourage someone to pay full price for it? Maybe not, but I would encourage someone to play in general.
If you enjoy the modern bethesda shooters and wanted one with a bit of freedom and non linearity then you should scoop Rage 2.
I've seen a lot of people complain that the game is too short and too easy, well, play on the hardest difficulty (like a man) and take your time unlocking and completing everything. Thats how the progression in the game works anyway. You are rewarded for completion and I find that pretty rad.
Overall I would say this; Rage 2 suffers from what a lot of modern games suffer from, but one of those things is over criticism.

An armless goatman and a 7 armed mutant warrior's journey to restore the goatman's limbs is interupted by love. Now the 7 armed man and goatman must teach the lovely applefarmer,s daughter how to survive in the wastelands before they continue their quest for ubernostrum.
in all seriousness I love this game, while daunting at first the game offer's tutoruals in-menu and options to tweak like disabling perma-deth maing it much easier, this rl is as deep as it gets without being too much like dwarf-fortress and it only gets deeper with each update

Made my weiner hard

A highly underrated game that combines third person shooting with 3d platforming, a must if you love challenge and involved gameplay, the only downsides to this hidden gem are its poor story and closed multiplayer servers, but other than that you are in for a treat, the graphics are good to look at, the game has a certain weight to its swingin mechanic giving you a rush and feeling of tension every time you go for that collectable pick up just under swinging distance from a ledge.
I give this game a 8/10, anyone who passed this up back in 2009 was foolish to let such a gem go
