Honestly I'm not proud being Chinese for many reasons but when I heard the leitmotif of Journey to the west wukong theme my insides cried a little bit, for once I'm proud of something that's made in China.

This is single-handedly best piece of media representing the chinese culture right now, even more it's also single-handedly everything the current gaming industry should be producing in every conceivable way. 0% ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 100% master piece.

This is a piece of art while the average AAA game these games are consumable products, this is a once in a generation game that maybe won't happen again.

A nice choose your own adventure book turned into a game. Even tho the choices are kinda linear if you play it through, guided by the game itself for you to experience different pieces of stories at different times , it's pretty clever.

The story set up and the"vibes" reminds me so much of Night in the Woods, and it's a good thing, I love nitw. I really enjoyed this one.

Reached to a point where I needed to steal resources from other survivors, I insta killed a man backstabbing them cause I needed to get through him, watched his wife come up to his corpse and cry as I'm hiding in the same room. I still needed to leave so I decided to kill the woman in front of me thinking she would be a threat to me... she didn't die one hit, I painstainkingly stabbed her 4 times in front of me, the woman didn't even fight back. My character returned to the shelter depressed. I felt so bad I closed the game and never booted it up again.

Game was "okay" level until midway through when you get essentially double your load out, stuff got crazy complex and went from "okay" to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. The map could do some work tho, I like the idea of minimalistic but man it was really confusing to get used to it.
100% completion. After mastering the combat it feels really satisfying, parrying and doing strings of attacks with different buttons almost feels like I'm playing a fighting game again.
Oh yeah also no joke, use a controller, I don't have one and it's was hard to get used to it.

Brewing potions is surprisingly addicting.
Like the gameplay is the last thing you think you would like but it just somehow works.

Bite sized old school RPG, nothing too ambitious, nothing trying to one up my nostagia and failing spectacularly, just how I like my indies. You might not like how "short" this game is, but this was really well done and that's all that matters. Highly recommend.

I wish there were more games like this.

I feel like I shouldn't be able to buy 100 hours+ of content for 8 bucks on sale.
TLDR: too much rambling, game unreasonably good besides some few minor personal gripes and it being way too long to finish that I gathered a backlog playing this.
Besides the god awful unreasonably implemented lootbox system in a singleplayer game that is tied to progression and some UI hickups, everything else is on god the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ best ♥♥♥♥ I've gotten to play for a long while.
Story is interesting even without the context of the previous game.
Music only solidifies my stance on "videogame music shouldn't slap this hard, I'm trying to play a game here not jam to the music".
Visuals are not something to be slept at, it is obvious that they didn't have much resource to make it look like the ♥♥♥♥ lisa, but with what they had to do it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impressive on how much detail there are in the background and VFXs are great too, specially the latter part of the game.
