At first glance the famous Hamburger may seem similar to the also renowned Grill Cheese sandwich type. Through in depth analysis it can be proven that the two are opposites. The Hamburger is a form of a sandwich which typically involves ground meat and bread. Other ingredients may be added such as lettuce, tomato, various condiments, and oftentimes cheese which turns the Hamburger into a Cheeseburger, but that is a topic for a different day. The Hamburger has many claims to its invention but the dates range from 1834 to the early 1900’s. The Hamburger is mainly known for being an American dish and as such the recipe varies dramatically from restaurant to restaurant. Their basic Cheeseburger consists of the two mandatory ingredients, the buns and the patty, and comes with cheese, pickles, and ketchup. The Hamburger from the food chain Five Guys Burgers and Fries also consists of the key ingredients of a patty between two buns, but also allows the customer to pick as many ingredients as they want.
