This game is something else, it doesn't generate angry thoughts within me, it has some great artwork and the game is playable with one hand!

Ill tell you why you are wrong. M requires you to put your lips together, whereas N doesn't. This is how it works in english.

Similarly, in Japanese you don't put your lips together when you say ん but moreover it acts like a defacto-vowel. Yes, it isn't a vowel technically, but it kind of works like one and when you pronounciate you have to give ん the same space in the word as the other syllables.

Also, saying ん requires you to give air from your throat, unlike in english where you give air from your nose and this is also why the japanese one reminds you of a vowel, but mostly the combination of that and the fact that you have to give it it's own space in the pronounciation

Now, it's impossible to say the japanese N with closed lips, which is how you say an M btw, because it's not an M. it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ N.
