Early Access Review
A great game to play with friends, especially ones that startle easily.

**Pros**
- The game, although it revolves around finding evidence, can be played in a manner that allows for identification of some ghosts without evidence; tl;dr game supports varied styles of play
- Even if you get used to the game, the sudden appearance of ghosts, hunts that might come at unexpected times, and occasional unpredictable ghost behavior mean that you'll still get your scares
- For an early-access game, this game is significantly less buggy than I had anticipated. To date I have not encountered a bug that ruined my game experience (there is a bug where if a player disconnects, your cameras will freeze, but this fixes itself after some time)
- For the easily scared, the game provides a guaranteed safe area (the van) to retreat to
- I play NA server; my public lobby experience has generally been a good one, and the community is less toxic than other multiplayer matchmaking lobbies I've run into in the past
- Dev to-do list is transparent (a Trello board) and takes into account player feedback
- Thomas Thomas

**Cons**
- Movement speed makes longer maps tedious, but somehow you can still outrun all but one species of ghost
- Many game mechanics/tools are not explained in the tutorial; I only learned about certain things from the community
- Some mechanics are not yet implemented, perhaps due to coding or logistical issues, such as certain spirit box and ouija board questions, and possibly crucifix utility-- still haven't seen conclusive proof either way
- Only one developer means slower content release

Personal feedback:
- I found the reticule for PC players small and difficult to adjust to in highly lit conditions (playing on default brightness)
- Cameras rely on red/green indicators to inform the player if they are on or not, and thus are difficult to distinguish if red/green colorblind. The same goes for windows/doors/cameras/breakers on the van map.
- Past a certain size, maps just become walking simulators. My friends and I have never played Asylum not because we're afraid of it, but because walking back and forth to the van and having that be 50% of the gameplay just got tiring.

Overall:
For those who aren't into hardcore horror games, want a casual co-op multiplayer experience with friends, or want to re-enact Buzzfeed Unsolved, this game is worth a look. Do not recommend for those looking for an Amnesia/Soma-esque experience or those coming solely for the gameplay. Most of the enjoyment of the game comes from how you interact with it, not getting the evidence itself.

What this game lacks in post-'completion' story it makes up for in delightfully bouncy slimes, weekly searches for giant music-playing slimes, and periodic content updates that make returning to the game a wonderful occasion. Also, the DLC is totally worth it if you want to vary the combinations of your slime designs.
