Early Access Review
Okay, third times a charm.

Over the course of my playtime with this game, as you can see I have thousands of hours spent here so obviously at one point or another I adored this game for a long duration. Now; you are probably wondering "If you have so many hours, whats with the negative review? Why waste your time THAT MUCH on a game when toward the end you are just gonna give it a big fat no?" Well mighty reader, I will explain.

See, Rimworld is a good game on its own; but as with 95% of its community, we all play with mods. Whether only a few vanilla style mods or hundreds of game altering mods to give a new change of pace to things. And when it comes to modding; this game is actually THE EASIEST game I have not only configured mods for, but created as well. The modding community has done an excellent job at keeping this game alive. Now; here is the biggest and most overseen complaint I have.

DLC is supposed to be something that 'adds onto an existing game'. Whether its new factions, items, story quests, etc. DLC like that makes sense. Now, DLC that adds entirely brand new game mechanics is an interesting idea, problem is that every single DLC you see was themed after a long forgotten mod back in older versions. Royalty? In 1.0 there was a mod exactly like it with even more content, Biotech? Already existed with its own mod chain back in 1.1, and usually I wouldn't trip on this but now DLC is REQUIRED to run most of the mods you see in the workshop. At this point I would just want Tynan to just include these 'game mechanics' into the game itself and stick to making content oriented DLC, as each new DLC that comes out wreaks absolute havoc on the modding community; causing everyone to drop all their mods and start fresh, or wait several months for the big mods to get updated. The only DLC that I mutually accept is Ideology (Even though I believe that should already exist in the game...).

I recently got Biotech so I can simply use ONE MOD that required it; now my game doesn't even boot up anymore after entirely wiping my mods list and doing a fresh reinstall. Days upon days of saved content just gone because I bought a downloadable content that should already exist in the game and not ruin every aspect of it. Thanks Tynan, for making the greatest, possibly best optimized game known to mankind yet utterly destroying it with DLC that is already a fully functional mod that you poorly recreated causing it to demolish saves, mods, and even entire servers hosted by Open World.

Granted I've spent maybe 1.6k hours actually playing the game, rest is toward tinkering / modding.
