It can't be overstated how massive the DLC is. It's absolutely huge, with some labyrinthian dungeon design, tons of verticality, and a plethora of new items, weapons, armor, spells, and skills to discover.

The DLC is absolutely difficult, but not to some absurd degree like some are asserting. The DLC has its own power progression system; you use items called Scadutree Fragments, which boost your attack and defense values, allowing you to scale up to match the DLC's difficulty. The DLC might feel brutal at first, but after a few Scadutree Fragments (they're plentiful), things because much more manageable. People reporting that the DLC scales with player level are wrong, it doesn't; the DLC is designed for your character to scale/level alongside it through the Scadutree Fragments.

Performance is mostly fine for me on a 5800X3D + 4070ti Super, but shader caching is a thing again since the game has to load new assets. There are stutters and slowdown at times, moving into new areas, but for me it has been temporary then the game resumes at 60fps, RTX on, without any notable dips.

Is Path of Exile good? Yes. It's great. But it isn't that simple. You're essentially asking "is it fun to smoke crack?" Yeah, it's probably great too, but once you start doing it all you're going to want to do is smoke crack, and the rest of your life is going to become meaningless and crumble. Path of Exile is smoking crack.

I always wanted to play Dwarf Fortress but it seemed overwhelming and unapproachable, so I played RimWorld instead. I was super excited for the Steam release of Dwarf Fortress, with the improvements and enhanced accessibility for us Crayon munchers. I will admit, however, that - even with the improvements - I was not loving it at first. It still seemed really clunky and unapproachable. But I endured. And then I started to memorize key commands. Then I started expanding my base, learning about machines, and learning about the devastation of Forgotten Beasts.

But then the most important moment happened: When I realized this isn't a game as much as it's a digital toybox to unleash your imagination. Dwarf Fortress is laying in your bedroom floor as a kid, with a bunch of action figures, building worlds, crafting stories and adventures. Dwarf Fortress is a coloring book where staying in the lines doesn't matter. Dwarf Fortress is one of the greatest games I have ever played in my entire life.

And I'm old. Not, like, dwarf old, but sometimes it takes awhile to pee.

Slay the Spire meets Darkest Dungeon. It took me a few runs for the game to get its hooks into me, but it's really fun. The game has a surprising amount of depth, with party and deck compositions, perk/skill trees, and item load-outs. The graphics are visually appealing, and the soundtrack absolutely slaps. Highly recommended.

There's some bugginess, but overall the game is fun. It reminds me of a couple of my favorite games, Hunt: Showdown and Sea of Thieves.

Nobody Saves the World is a fresh and addicting remix of the old school Legend of Zelda formula. Humorous, with a vibrant color palette, a cute but grotesque art style, and 18 'forms' (classes/jobs) you can customize for any occasion and switch to on the fly. Highly recommended, especially for fans of old school action rpgs.

I grew up on classics like Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. I had put off playing this for a couple years but always intended on getting around to it when I was in the mood to revisit this sort of game.

Unfortunately I can't really recommend this game unless you are the hardest of hardcore point-and-click adventure games purists. The convoluted, intentionally vague and often cryptic and nonsensical puzzles and item combinations just doesn't do it for me anymore in a world where adventure games like "This is not a Game: Wrong Dimension" exist. I feel that this game just doesn't respect my time. And I'm sure the purists are screaming at their monitors right now reading this - and that's fine - but I guess I was hoping for a classic style p&c adventure with some modernization; more logical item interactions and puzzle solutions, less backtracking, etc.

Additionally, the sound design and balance is all over the place, and at this point I doubt it'll ever be patched. Dialogue volume sometimes fluctuates dramatically, flipping from left to right channels for instance.

It's not all bad. I didn't find any laugh-out-loud moments, but there were some clever moments, and some fun, quirky characters and expected zany set pieces. The aesthetic and humor weren't enough to save this one for me, unfortunately. I wish it would have been, and I'm sure the most diehard fans will still be happy.

Is there a learning curve? Yes, and as someone who doesn't really play and generally kinda sucks at fps', at 88 hours I'm starting to get somewhat decent, so if you are naturally good at fps games you should acclimate well. That being said, in-game knowledge, strategies, situational awareness, and preparation will win you just as many encounters as being able to ping-ping on target.

Is the game solo friendly? Not really. I have started solo hunting but only after 75+ hours in the game. There is a solo battle royale mode that ... I mean, I suppose some people like it, but I don't care much for it.

Is there perma-death? Yes, but it's not that big of a deal. You lose that particular character if it dies completely in a match, but you maintain your overall 'account level' progress and unlockables. Think something like X-Com if you lose a character, but it's less of a big deal here than losing some ultra valuable team member, and you can get a high level character back in just a couple matches. Death is part of the game.

All that being said, this is one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played. If you've played something like Sea of Thieves you get the general idea: PvE goals that aren't terribly difficult by themselves, but all the terror comes from the looming threat of PvP. This isn't a run-and-gun type of shooter, although you can play it that way I suppose, you just likely won't be very successful. This is more of a sneaky, trap-laying, ambush-setting, wait in a bush for someone to come out a door for 15 minutes to shoot them and take their 'bounty' before discovering they knew about your plan and circled around quietly and shot you in the back of the head before you knew what was happening kind of game.

Aside from some occasional server hiccups and the fact that the water screen space reflections are absolutely embarrassing - especially from a company who used to be lauded for their PC graphics - I haven't had any issues with this game.

9/10, would bring a friend.
