Early Access Review
Having played this game from the first Playtest and well into Early Access, I don't see myself stopping any time soon. The game is fun on its own merits, whether you have played every Tribes game like I have or whether you are new to the game.

For anyone who hasn't played any Tribes game before, you're in for a treat. Fast-paced movement in any non-Tribes shooter just falls short of any Tribes game. The barrier to entry in Tribes 3: Rivals is lower than other Tribes games, so it's easy to pick up and start having fun, even if you're not zooming along at 250+ kph in your first matches. But the skill ceiling is very high, so even long-term veterans have plenty of room to grow.

For long-term vets like myself, there are plenty of features that we want from prior games that are not in the game - vehicles, deployable base assets, additional game modes, etc. But at its core, this is still a Tribes game - skiing feels good, jetpacks feel good, and disc launchers feel good (although I am starting to favor the Thumper, please forgive me spinfusor). But for the $20 price the game is great fun, and I'll keep holding out hope that the developers continue to listen to the community feedback as they have done throughout the playtest and make changes to bring the game to a better and better state.
