Freeways feels more like a senior design project than a video game. It is a very interesting concept, but as a game it feels clunky and unpolished. I would love to see an update to this game that allows the editing of existing roads, the ability to draw arcs and straight lines, and a confirmation dialog for destructive actions.
The Good
  • Interesting concept
  • Hypercasual gameplay means you can play while waiting in lobbies for other games or going about life.
  • Decent $/hr for enjoyment and frustration

The Bad
  • It makes the assumption that I can draw flawlessly and has no undo button or ability to edit existing roads.
  • The "clear" button has no confirmation dialog and is seated precariously next to the map button.
  • Very little information on how efficiency (your score) is calculated

Early Access Review
I came for the cute and stayed for the shoot. Super Animal Royale is the first top-down battle royale type game that I have enjoyed playing. All unlockables are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay. Everything is super adorable and the devs are active in the community. I cannot wait to see what develops from this game during early access.

EDIT INFO ABOUT THE "DEMO" VERSION:
The "demo" (current name at time of writing) version is the full game without any of the cosmetic unlocks being available to you. This means you can play as the 4 base animals (fox, bear, tiger, skullcat) without any cosmetic changes. You will still accrue animal DNA, super serum, and cosmetic items, but you will be unable to use them until purchasing the full game. All of the stuff and stats you have collected while playing the demo should follow you to the full game when you buy it.

This game is surprisingly fun once you get through the excessively long "tutorial."

All the fun a debugging actual assembly code without the setup and hardware commitments! I would definitely recommend printing out the included manual or having a second monitor. Low-level coding is a great skill to have, and this game acts as a great primer or refresher.
