There are two scenarios for Left 4 Dead 2, years after its release. No, the game is neither dead nor deserted, it benefits from a large and active community that offers numerous mods and additional campaigns once you've gone through the game. The various game modes available will also keep you busy for a while before you get tired of beating up zombies.

In fact, the two options are the following (knowing that the solo game with the AI is useless) when you'll play the campaigns in cooperation: either you'll run into big a$$holes, who'll choose to score and go far ahead of you without ever waiting for you (or even votekick you at the slightest mistake), and the game will become a purge. L4D2 is a cooperative game. To go alone is to die. (This is especially true in the more advanced difficulty modes). Either you will come across novices who want to do well, or experienced players who know the real "things", and the missions will be a pleasure to complete. There is nothing like getting organised, who is covering who, who is aiming at what, who is healing who, who is using what weapon, to move forward without getting into a tizzy.

Unfortunately, like everywhere else, you'll be playing mostly with a$$holes and Russians (who are definitely the cancer of online games). Look for players on the community, add them as friends, and organize raids. L4D2 really comes into its own when you enjoy playing with people who are involved and willing to help newbies and others. Completing a mission in advanced mode can only be done with good players who know teamwork.

Apart from these points, L4D2 does not feel the weight of the years. The graphics are still good (Source ftw engine), the gameplay is sometimes nervous, sometimes more strategic, and the campaigns are long, rich and varied (the possibility to roam in such vast maps is impressive for "the time"). Evaluating L4D2 is difficult because the pleasure you'll take in killing the undead will depend on who you play with. The game itself is still a killer, full stop.

+ Very active community
+ Always fun to play and watch
+ Lots of long and rich campaigns
+ Highly challenging without being impossible
+ With real players, the co-op is exceptional
+ Discreet and pleasant soundtrack
+ A great way to vent your frustration
