I picked up a copy of this on Steam, but the game wouldn't launch and was stuck on the desktop splash screen despite as much troubleshooting I could fit into an hour's worth of Steam's "gameplay time". Refunded and bought on bnet, which ran properly on first launch.

Singleplayer is fun, but that's not why people throw money at this francise year after year. Your "core gamemodes" are your bog-ordinary fast-TTK gameplay loop (which is still useful for levelling weapons for greater gunsmith customisation) but there's definitely a lot of fun to be had with the Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale component (and DMZ's PvPvE) despite being free.

I wouldn't recommend buying MWII at full price, unless you're already a fan of the deathmatch style gameplay. Grab Warzone 2.0, see if it works on your computer via Steam, and whether you like it.

It has some stupid-as-heck bugs though. For example, I get "dev error 6146" kicking me back to the lobby multiple times a day. If I have to read another stupid "helpful guide" on this error that tells me to update/verify game or reinstall my drivers, I'll yeet an empty steel water bottle through my monitor at the blog writer.

As what I suppose I would be called an "old school gamer" having started with Tomb Raider in '96, there's very few titles over 20 years later that seem to be worth a damn. Half Life, Witcher, the Rocksteady Batman games, Borderlands, Deus Ex, Titanfall, and yes, even DOOM 2016 have kept me interest enough to really want to play through the whole campaign.

Thankfully, Eternal lives up to the first and as said elsewhere, shows that the success of the reboot was no fluke. Crank it up to Ultra settings on my 4790K/1080GTX and it gets a smooth 144 FPS, so it's optimised as hell. The controls are gorgeously responsive, the story and lore is interesting, and puts you thoroughly into a world where you're the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Doom Slayer and nothing matters other than tearing up an onslaught demons.

I paid full price because I was *really* bloody bored, and still got good value for money. If you've enjoyed the first and come across this on sale (or have family sharing with someone who has already purchased it), you'd be barking mad to not get it, or play it.

It's unapologetically a hyperviolent visceral glorykill gorefest that deserves its R18+ rating, so be sure to be like me and keep it away from the eyes of younger people that might be in your household.

I played this game for 25 hours in a row since release. I planned for this, because of how much I enjoyed the crap out of Human Revolution (where I managed to finish that game in one sitting), even over multiple playthroughs.

Mankind Divided does have some annoying "day one flaws": I've had two CTD's, two issues resulting in the UI failing so I've had to reload my save, 15-20s reload times on a Samsung 950 Pro (This is annoying, as I reload A LOT) and while not really a flaw, my PC occasionally dips below 60FPS on my GTX1080 at 1080p with all settings maxed out (I can change this, but it doesn't bother me much).

On top of this, there's controversy about the "consumable" DLC. I find it a bit scummy to have micro-transactions in a full priced AAA title, so like with Metal Gear Solid V, I'm just ignoring this aspect since they have no effect upon how I play the game.

As for the actual gameplay, I've managed to explore a load from the Prague hub from completing all the side missions available so far, and I still have a heck of a lot more exploring to go. Since no enemy soldier or computer terminal is safe from me, I've currently got at least 10 Praxis points, leaving me with no shortage on how I can augment my gameplay.

In short: I really am enjoying the crap out of this.

A few days after writing this, I've noticed this review has a few downvotes and no comments. I can honestly only presume it's because of those who would rather "boycott" the game to prove a point that micro-transactions are bad, since there's still a lot of noise about it.

I have a different take to boycotting DX: By not buying the game, you're more clearly saying "I don't care about Deus Ex, and the developers shouldn't bother making another game" rather than "I don't support microtransactions". You can't guarantee your voice will be heard by the developers over social media, or even Steam reviews.

If you do enjoy the series, buy the game, and don't use the microtransactions. It shows that you want to see sequels, but don't support post-purchase monetisation. The developers may reconsider with the next title and say "Well we tried it, but very few used it", opposed to "The game sales were bad, we should not make more".

Disagree? Well, I'm always open to hearing other peoples reasoning.

Do buy it for:

* The great singleplayer storyline
* The fantastic visuals
* The ability to choose between using first person mode and third
* The questionable humour and parody
* The ability to install fantastic singleplayer mods
* Trevor

Do not buy it for:
* Online mode

Why the hate against GTA Online? I love the online world and everything it could potentially offer - like flying your own jets, grouping up with players and playing missions/heists/gang fights, garages worth of pimped out cars and other luxury vehicles. Hell, I'll even pass the lengthy load screens with a push.

Unfortunately, it's a cheater infested cesspool who ultimately have all the control in the game. Each "game client" is trusted with their own data in this "P2P networking" setup, so anyone with the right .exe can control their health/ammo/money/reputation/votekicks, even down to the reports that other players put in to report another players negative behaviour.

In a good lobby, no one may obviously be cheating and everything is okay! Then you have the bad where someone is spawning tons of money bags on the ground, allowing you to buy the most expensive item in the game (The Hydra Jet at $3m) within a few minutes thereby stripping almost any need to grind missions. Then you get the ugly, where you're being forcibly ejected from your vehicle no matter your location, weapons stripped from you, everyone in the server killed from confetti explosions and giant ferris wheels being spawned that crash your game.

Rockstar only bother removing your "modded money", because they're deluded into thinking you might buy their $100 "Shark Card" that gives you $8m worth of in-game online money. Otherwise, when it comes to issues that plague GTA:O, they stay more silent than Gordon Freeman's backside-orifice.

Maybe mods in the future such as FiveM will fix this since it'll have dedicated servers. Time will tell.

*Edit:
Note that this review came before the issue regarding Rockstar and their Summer Sales business practices ordeal. Holy ship-snacks, what silly banana thought ripping customers off was a good idea!? http://redd.it/39h4vs

The game has changed a lot since PAYDAY 1. Mostly for the better.

Few things worth noting for potential buyers:
- Loads of DLC - get the GOTY edition and leave it at that
- Don't worry about new heist DLC's as you get access if someone else hosts the heist first (This is how you get 90% of your missions)
- For the sake of everyone already in a game, install this on a damn solid state drive!
- If the host disconnects, you get kicked out. No dynamic host switching!
- Textures can be a bit of a let-down. Probably because of it being released on PS3/Xbox 360
- No anti-aliasing options. Again, because potato boxes
- The vault drill breaks regularly because it's also a potato box

Otherwise, 9/10. Would let Gustavo Fring harass me with a dentist drill.
