Elden Ring is the epitome of what a game should be. No transactions, no hand holding, just buy it, play it, and go. You make your own adventure, and your own challenge. If you think something is too hard, you can move somewhere else, find better loot, and overcome the challenge in many different ways.

The game tells you how it wants you to play off the gate; with the expectation of dying. A lot. If you don't like dying, the game does not care. The game makes you feel like you shouldn't belong there, and you're forced to show every being "No, I WILL become Elden Lord." Not with ease, but with determination.

If the souls style of combat isn't for you, then it isn't for you. However, nobody is forcing you to fight that one boss you can't defeat except yourself. You can, and are advised to, take a step back at times, explore somewhere else, and come back.

New game + is a bit different in this field, where you've probably already found a lot of stuff, and now you know where to go. This is where the game knowledge of your previous run comes into play, because now the story plots connect in a much more sensible way than you had seen last time (atleast, for me) and you don't need to rely about 90% on the wiki just to marry Ranni.

The game has plenty of replay value, with the near endless amount of builds you can go for.

My two compaints are that once you return to Leyndell Capital after beating a certain boss, a lot of teleports seem to bug out and will crash if you try to use them (you can verify your files via steam and fix this issue)

And Malenia, Blade of Miquella. She has no right hitting so fast AND healing each time I can't dodge her wombo combo. It's already punishing to die, I don't need to see her fully healed up afterwards as well.
