I have left my original review below as a testament to how much hello games have turned this game around.
Even at full price this game has so much content now, and they never charge for DLC, there's some bugs here and there and maybe some questionable choices regarding how the UI works and how it's designed but the game is chill, it's fun, it has a good community, and it's MILES and MILES beyond what it was at launch. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play a space crafting game, it feels a little like a survival game at the start but that goes away early with some upgrades! Overall 9.5 out of 10 in 2025.

Not worth it, go and buy Minecraft, Subnautica, Elite Dangerous, hell i'd probably even recommend Star Citizen with it's costs over this game. This game is amazing on paper with everything being random from systems to plants and creatures, sounds awesome. Reality is that it's modelled after the real universe to some extent as pointed out by Sean himself only 10% of planets will have life, and 10% of that 10% will have meaningful life so you spend most of your time running around collecting minerals, 99% of the creatures are vegetarian it seems and the ones that do attack you provide little to no challenge.

IF you do find something cool the only way you can share it with your friends is to name it after yourself and send them a screenshot, there's no multiplayer, there's no way to easily find anything that someone else has discovered.

Once you get all your stuff upgraded, Ship, Suit, Multitool then you start the journey to the center, for every 1600 LY it said i was jumping i got 50LY closer to the center didn't matter what direction i went in, also you have to stop and refuel. I'm not going to spoil the ending of the game for you i'm just going to say if your not having fun playing it at all right now or if you don't like what you've seen so far from people then don't even bother with the thoughts of "Oh maybe the ending will be good" cause it will make you break your keyboard :)

I don't right reviews but this is probably the highest priced game i've seen in a long time that's just not worth it, the Idea's on Paper did not translate well to the game and they hyped up far too many things that are just not there. I'm also tired of DLC, release a finished product and then make a finished expansion with some actual content not some photoshop filtered skins and i'll buy it.

I've tried all the controller guides to get this game to work and it's been over an hour.

ZERO xbox one controller support on windows 10 from the developer.

getting a refund now.

I did get it working on another machine and totally forgot to updated this, your update also helped out and the game is actually fun i apologize for the delay in updating my comment as well. Didn't end up refunding the game but ended up playing all the way through. Everything but the controls seemed solid out of the box.
