I bought this game for $9.99, 50% off, and I wish I had bought it full price. I had had it on my wishlist for about six months, because I wait for sales on games I'm not sure about.
I have two favorite parts of the game which I would like to elaborate on.
This game gives a lot of direction with almost zero dialogue. There was never a point in playing it that I didn't know what I needed to do next, but it never explicitly told me. I love games like this.
Additionally, this game, especially once the lab is complete, scratches the same itch that ultra-modded Minecraft scratches. That is my favorite game that I have ever played, and I haven't had that itch scratched since. Something about using machines to get resources to build niche tech that slowly automates away the boring parts of the game really resonates with me.
If you like casually-oriented games that you can play completely un-casually, spending hours at a time completing small tasks that contribute toward a large goal, buy this game.
If you loved modded Minecraft or Stardew Valley, buy this game.
I could not recommend it more.

Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor is a sprawling, confusing mess. The city that you begin in is large, dense, loud, and unforgiving, and you begin with an annoying curse that constantly yells at you. You are never guaranteed that you have enough money to eat, and you can't get more money until you sleep, which you need to eat to do. The main quest is stressful and tedious.
It is for these reasons that I love this game. Once you get your grips on the confusing cityscape, you can navigate it with (relative) ease. Once you start budgeting, the money problem begins to dissipate. Once you put in enough work toward it, the main quest is an afterthought - it beats itself. It seems like the questline exists only to keep you within the world of the game for long enough to enjoy it.
This game is abrasive and annoying, but once you wrap your head around it, it's not all too hard. The first hour, I wanted to shut the game off. After that, I accidentally stayed up until two in the morning, two nights in a row, trying to put the "finishing touches" on what I was working on.
If progress derived from tedium interests you, throw your Municipal Credits toward the dev - it's worth it.

It legitimately surprises me that this game only has a Very Positive rating; it should have Overwhelmingly Positive
After beating the entire game, including the dlc, and getting every achievement, I would do it again. It's one of my favorite games, and I'm sad that I never played it until recently.

Early Access Review
This game is a the greatest game ever for those who like to play as the bad guy, those who like tycoon and world domination games, and sociopaths in general. I saw somebody play this game on YouTube, and I was hooked. One of the best parts is that there is no storyline. You can watch hundreds of YouTube videos on this game, and still play it without having any letdowns, or knowing what's going to happen. It's different every time! I recommend this.
