Just finished the game and it was a great experience. The characters, look and soundtrack play well together and somehow even with some challenging bosses this game has an relaxed athmosphere overall. The story was creative yet not complex but has a good message about how death is part of life and the inevitablity of it.

Like said by many reviewers before: this is clearly a game for everyone enjoying the classic Zelda games. Sometimes I am missing the typical Zelda soundeffect when revealing a secret ;).

You have a hub which brings you to different parts of the world with several biomes / themes. You get new skills so that you can unlock new paths. Of course, this requires to go back to the different parts of the world but here is one of the things I did not enjoy so much. As sometimes the level design was a bit to repetitive in some areas, it got time consuming finding certain entrances / secrets again after unlocking new abilities. But that is me being extra picky ;).

The combat and controls are really smooth and direct. There was no kind of input lag and playing with a controller just felt good. I also liked, that the overall controls and combat system was really simple. I also have to say that the difficulty was just perfect. Some fights were challenging, others were fairly easy but you constantly had the feeling to make good progress but also to be challenged by the game.

There an upgrade mechanism which lets you improve your character in certain areas. You are also able to collect some crystals extending your health bar if you have enough. I have the feeling that this whole upgrade part of the game could have been done better. Also a few more weapons would have been nice.


To conclude my review: this game was developed by a small indie studio with only 2 people. This itself is just impressive. Also the overall atmosphere, the look, the soundtrack, the simple but creative story, just dragged me in completely. This game is for everyone who enjoys the old Zelda games and likes to have a relaxed yet challenging gaming experience.

- within the areas the level design sometimes makes it hard to find blocked entrances again after unlocking new skills
- the upgrade system could have been a bit more complex or effective
- no "new game plus", I would love to enjoy more content :)
