A mini hourglass, a scythe charm, grim reaper peppermints, a guidebook to the afterlife and a black feather to remember me.
Very good game!

Death's Door, in my opinion, suffers from an identity crisis. It wants to be funny and lighthearted, but also serious and difficult. It wants to be a beautiful exploration game where you find secrets around every corner, but also contains a ton of backtracking with no map and metroidvania elements with underwhelming rewards. It wants to be symbolic with the whole "crows and death" theme, but also never explores that aspect and instead uses it for comic relief.

I definitely enjoyed the start of the game a lot, especially the stunning, gorgeous art, wonderful soundtrack, and funny dialogue, but the game quickly loses its charm a couple hours in after the first 2 or 3 bosses. For example, enemies always felt like punching bags, even with all the upgrades. Frequently, you're dropped into this "arena" of sorts where you have to defeat all enemies to proceed, leaving no option to avoid them.
Another issue that bothered me was the collectibles that required unlockable abilities to acces. These abilities always felt very tedious to unlock and had quite underwhelming effects outside of accessing said collectibles. The collectibles themselves required a ton of backtracking in big open areas where it's easy to get lost without a map and were usually either pointless or severely disappointing (case in point, there are 6 weapons in the game, all of them more or less play the same and only 1-2 are viable).

Like I said, I initially enjoyed Death's Door, but when met with disappointment after disappointment, with the story REALLY dragging out in the end and ending up being extremely convoluted and esoteric (even though it started as cute lil crow, kill big bads), I just felt myself wanting to play the game less and less.

While Death's Door has its strengths, I would generally not recommend it, especially if you seek meaningful reward and progression. However, if you're a completionist who simply enjoys collecting items in vast open-world settings, you may still find some enjoyment here despite its shortcomings.

I love the game, the music it's so beautiful, nostalgic, sometimes sad.

It's one of those games that you wanna erase from your memories so you can play it again.

The only one thing that I didn't like, it's that it doesn't have a map, but you can live without it.
