Just finished my first singleplayer game, first impressions:

There are some great systems here, I look forward to see where the developers take it going forward, but it stands on its own quite well as is now.

I like the combat system and wonders

Having an avatar that changes into the clothes of your new tier civ feels weird but changing eras into a new civ feels good gameplay wise, It is just strange seeing Edgar Allen Poe go from Babylonian to Australian...

I feel like there is less of a choice here regarding wide vs tall than other 4x games. I was able to build an absolutely absurd number of districts in each city, and production scaled quite quickly. Not sure if that is a pro or a con yet, but it is different.

10/10 would get taken for my entire savings account to pay for dlc for a GUI for a spreadsheet

This game is great.

Except that patch days are worse than a new expansion launching in your favorite MMO and breaking every addon you have installed.

Update, since steam asked me to after putting on another 11 hours

Launched game for the first time in like ~two weeks
There was an update yesterday that added no gameplay functionality but broke all mods.

Guess I didnt want to play anyways.

I wish there was an option on steam to make the game never update again.

Update mk2:
I saw that mods had been updated for this game, and was excited to play again
I updated all of my mods and launched, got a black screen w/ everything broken.
Tabbed out, saw announcement today announcing another update - Mods broken again literally as soon as they were update. I have never felt so negative about game updates before in my life. It feels like the developers are intentionally breaking mods for some reason.

got pressed into slavery in my first 10 minutes, then got eaten by wild animals 10/10 would recommend

I have bought and played every Total War game from Medieval 1 through Warhammer for a minimum of ~60 hours and will not be buying a Total War game ever again, since you don't want us to play or purchase them.
