Playing Starfield, one cannot shake the feeling of déjà vu. The cosmos at your fingertips feels eerily reminiscent of the worlds we've traversed in previous Bethesda titles, almost like retracing steps in a house you've lived in before. However, this isn't entirely a downside.

Despite the undeniable shadow of its predecessors looming over it, Starfield manages to carve out a place of its own in the expansive universe of space-faring RPGs. Yes, the crafting system might remind you strongly of the mechanics we've seen in other titles, and yes, the faction dynamics carry echoes of the narratives we've previously explored. But it's like a well-worn path, comforting and familiar, guiding us to an experience that, while not groundbreaking, is solid and rewarding.

The journey through the Starfield universe often seems like a homage to Bethesda's earlier creations, sometimes to a fault. The resemblance might occasionally break the immersion, drawing you out of the new narrative and into memories of older ventures. Yet, it cannot be denied that what they have replicated is a formula that works, offering a good balance between exploration, crafting, and combat.

The ship-building mechanic, albeit not revolutionary, brings a personal touch to your adventures, adding a layer of strategic depth that keeps the gameplay engaging. It's a tried-and-tested method, fostering an environment where players can feel at home while navigating through the new interstellar settings.

While the graphical representation won't win any awards for innovation, it provides a stable and visually pleasing backdrop for the space odyssey. The detailed environments and sweeping vistas serve as a gentle reminder of the grandeur and wonder that Bethesda can infuse into its worlds, even if they have tread similar paths before.

At its core, Starfield doesn't seek to revolutionize the gaming landscape but instead offers a safe haven for those looking for a quintessentially Bethesda experience, wrapped in a new, space-bound package. It might not be the leap forward many were anticipating, but it's a comfortable stride along a well-trodden path, promising hours of enjoyable exploration and adventure.

It is a gentle reminder that sometimes, it's perfectly okay to stick to what you know, especially when it delivers a genuinely good, if not entirely new, experience.

This game, as mentioned in other reviews, openly encourages terrorism. It should be removed from Steam as a result.
It is, however, a very useful mechanism to see which of your Steam friends are hateful branch covidian scum.

Also, the left can't meme.

Leaving this review early so I can list feedback as I play

Cloudpunk has a well-written plot, focused on a likable character. The gameplay mechanics are innovative, fun to use, and have a long learning curve to ensure you're constantly getting better. The economy system and NPCs are well-done.

The voxel artstyle I was questionable about at first but eventually realized the artstyle is done well enough to permit it.

Now for the small inconveniences

- Mrs Octavius Butler mission's dialogue is a decent bit longer than the distance to get from the origin to the destination
- Walking NPCs often walk through each other or stand in the same space as others

Early Access Review
Been playing Cosmoteer (Classic) for a while, it was a great game, and it's being made even better now. A dream come true.

I've been playing this game since I was about three years old. It's most likely the first video game I ever played.

I have no idea where my parents got the disk but it made me love computers and programming for the rest of my life.

It also had an effect on my perception of history. Here's how:

- I permanently and irreversibly believe that Neanderthals looked like Batman but with orange-ish clothes

- I'm afraid of women because the first person you meet in the Roman Ages

- I will forever believe friendly knights will duel each other if their opponent tricks them into it

- Wizards are annoying and can teleport.

- Black belt martial artists got nothing on an unarmed Stanley Opar

- If I see ever a clay pot next to a statue, you'd best believe I'm gonna turn the lid 360 degrees just to be sure

- The American Civil War was fought by standing in one place and pretending to be a statue

- The more recent wars were fought by guys with roller blades and grenades

- Beyond Time is probably what it's like to do DMT

All-in-all, this game was way ahead of its time, and games are no longer made to the quality they were back in 1996. Seeing it appear on Steam with a new studio backing it has made me a happy man.

I disagree with another reviewer that the game serves exclusively for nostalgia, it's still fun and challenging.

Would rather play TC than Call of Duty. Would love to see a sequel or remake.

Tried to like the game, just not as advertised at all. Very basic, under-developed tools and structures. I'll keep it on my wishlist... If it gets better I'll repurchase and change this review, but it's *not* worth $20 as it currently is. In fact, it should be free as it is.

Endless source of fun. Playing on various servers, talking to people on servers, playing a fun game with good DLC content is refreshing.
