Summary:
I have yet to complete the game, but I already know this is one of my favorite games of all time. Besides being gorgeous and immersive, the mechanics are well-thought and the story (rare for a survival game) is intriguing so far. All in all very well made and fun.

It's also hands down the most terrifying game I've ever played. After a giant sea monster nearly ate me I had to quit and do something else for a while to calm down (not something I've ever done for a game before) -- but then you probably need a fear of deep water and being eaten by things to be thus affected.

The Good:

- Unlocking new items is introduced immersively through discovering pieces (or on occasion, whole items)
- Interesting and unique biomes to explore
- Story items are intriguing paced out well
- General production value (voice acting, art, ui, etc)
- Base-building is easy and fun
- In-game wiki system provides all necessary data, the "help" is included as part of your character's PDA

The Bad:
- While the VR is gorgeous and adds depth, it does seem to be more disorienting than most other VR games. I got nauseous after playing for a few minutes (though my VR tolerance is not amazing). Also, the controls were very hard to manage -- I had trouble figuring out how to open a door while using a standard xbox controller.

I would personally like to see a co-op mode as well, though that may not really work with the current gameplay (it would work just fine with the story, though).
