While playing Unity for the third time, I think, after a few years, I realized that I would love to play a good Assassin's Creed game right now.

I think a few years ago my gaming experience was just not very mature and very simplistic. Everything in this game screams that it needed more time. Be it the parkour system, animations, combat system, character, story, open-world, quest designs and so on.

It's all actually kind of there, but it doesn't really click with a single aspect.
The intro to the Bastille comes as close to that feeling as nothing after it.
The title card fade-in was the best moment in this game, and among the best title card fade-ins I've seen in gaming.

Unfortunately, everything after that folds in on itself, as does Arno. Where he starts out as likeable, witty and humorous as he gymnastics through Versailles, after the intro he tips over into a barrel of a mixture of stagnation in his character development and way too much alcohol.

This would be tolerable if it weren't for that UNBELIEVABLY crappy combat system. The animations don't work at all over half the time. One bug and visual glitch chases the next.

BUT. Oh..... frozen hell, BUT:

What completely screwed up the game was the guy who decided that there were enemies that could shoot at you WITHOUT you being able to dodge if you weren't in melee. No matter where you are, no matter if behind a wall, no matter how fast. YOU. WILL. GET. SHOT. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I hate it and can't take it anymore. I had to stop even though I was close to the end of the story. But unfortunately it's not worth it. Maybe I'll finish it, but I need a break. What the hell have the developers been smoking. I can't believe it.
