Barotrauma is just better League of Legends if you're the Captain.

ROCK AND STONE!!!

You're a dwarf mining to get the absolute bare minimum pay, and yet, the devs treat you like you aren't an infinite cash-cow, but a respectable person.

JUST BUY THE GAME ALREADY, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!
FOR KARL!

Can Steam add a "meh" or "sort of" option?

First things first, this game is a Sandbox. You 100% make your own fun sailing around (most likely with friends because the solo experience in this game is less than ideal) doing whatever fits your fancy, be it showing off your new PirateFashion(TM), doing voyages, Tall Tales, the Hourglass of Fate (or fighting without it, both are viable), or role-playing, the fun in SoT comes from the interactions with other players. If that isn't your cup of grog, you will NOT like this game.
But NO ONE can deny that the atmosphere is so unique. The artstyle (which may take some getting used to for some), the GLORIOUS music (can you tell I like the music?), the different regions (except the Wilds, eff that place), the slight ambient music (again, the music), the different fashion designs and player expression, it all blends together beautifully. So while SoT definitely has it's shortcomings and the... pretty bad advertising of what this game actually is, chances are, if you've stuck around for a year or something, you're sticking with it to the end. And with any sandbox game, you make your own fun.

Cheers, pirate.

It's a third-person shooter tied with a rogue-like, if that wasn't already obvious from everything else you've seen. If you like rogue-likes, you'll absolutely enjoy this game. If you like TPS's, I encourage you to at least try out the 2 hours to see if you'll actually like it.
Sure, a LOT of this requires the wiki or mods for basically QoL updates like actually seeing numbers and how items stack, or you can just grab 4 gajillion stacks of Fireworks, the Vending Machine equipment, and Project I.C.B.M. and not give an eff as everything around dies in glorious Fourth-of-July patriotism.

How many Monster Hunter reviews can I write about Barroth extinction?

Buy this and Sunbreak, if you haven't already. It's more Monster Hunter but with a faster feel to it than the older games. If you haven't played an MH game before, while I personally suggest starting off with World/Iceborne, Rise/Sunbreak is still a great MH game that is absolutely worth the money.

Log #127: The Barroth have begun migrating to Loloska in an attempt to regroup and get away from my wrath. And yet, not even this has prevented the slaughter. Prantic (my Pukei-Pukei) and I have been getting rid of the stragglers and letting the others escape.
Log #181: Apparently, this migration wasn't just an attempt to regroup and survive... it was to increase their numbers. Much to their (probable) dismay, they've revealed the location of the Jade Barroths. This shall prove more fruitful then I thought.
Log #205: Barroth kill count was only 43 today, down from yesterday's 49. Either I'm getting rusty, or the population's thinning. Let's hope it's the latter.
Log #220: Against my better judgement, Prantic convinced me to keep a Barroth egg we found in one of their dens. Perhaps making a bond with it when it hatches and convincing it to kill it's brethren will be more useful then simply making the mother of all omelets, Jack. (Side notes: Don't ask how Prantic convinced me, you know how the bond between Monstie and Rider works. As for Jack, if you somehow find this... good on you, you finally stopped drinking those so-called "electrolytes.")
Log #256: Klepoth (the Barroth that hatched from the egg) has been incredibly helpful in finding Barroths in hiding. Kill count has been steadily increasing, up from 52 to 70. And to be honest... I'm growing somewhat fond of the muddy guy. Prantic will still be my right-hand Monstie, and Noggin my Palico, but Klepoth may be sticking around for a little longer.
Log #276: This may be the last log for those finding these in the fields. Pits have started opening up everywhere, with bright red lights shooting out from them. Monsters, including the Barroths, have been getting much more aggressive around these pits. I've heard passing words that these are being called rage-rays (the Guild is apparently horrible at naming things), and it's affecting everything. I may need to head back home, because as this helps bring the Barroths out of hiding, it also brings out the more terrifying things, and in herds I never thought possible. Hopefully this dies down soon, so the slaughter may continue.
- Fortel, signing off

9/10, still can't get over why the Barroths are in the ice area when they like mud, like, what the f* Capcom?

Doom has Rip and Tear, and MGR has that if you put it on massive amounts of parmesan cheese (if you know, you know).
