nice short little game for a quick coffee
good potential for future horror games, just needs to be a little longer and the story needs to be a little more complex
last chase scene needs work - the stalker's movements feel too random and unpredictable. when paired with the rng of the key and the lack of hiding spots, it's extremely annoying to get anywhere without dying in two seconds

that goth chick can ruin me

coming from a background that doesn't play many games in the metroidvania and exploration genre, i was fully blown away at how much fun i had playing hollow knight. this game is incredibly rich in content and it's evidently clear that team cherry has put their literal sweat and tears into this project

the art is stunning - every single location in this game feels like it was perfectly designed to be and the music exquisitely accompanies each area like a burger, fries and cola combo. you FEEL like you are the knight venturing through these mystical places. that's more than enough immersion.

the game's mechanics flow perfectly with each other, and every deliberate input feels like your own responsibility. mess up a boss timing? it wasn't the game's fault, it was yours. this game is crafted to be as brutal as possible, while also being as educational. each mistake teaches you something new, something to remember for next time. it's a genius formula for any game, and hollow knight really does not miss with this factor.

this is probably one of the best games ever made. hollow knight is the embodiment of what you should have in a video game.

don't get me wrong "a little to the left" isn't terrible, but the game design is definitely irritable at some sections of the game.

some puzzles feel awful to solve and make you wonder how they're even solvable without the use of hints in the first place, but this might just be a skill issue on my end. placement is sometimes finicky and hard to get into the right places.

and the playtime, why so short? i paid $15 for a 4 hour game - you expect to get many more hours of playtime from this but the game slaps you with a limited selection of levels enough for one evening.

sure, you could split it into even sections for multiple nights but even then it runs out fairly quick. i don't think there is any replayability after you complete it once, unless you're going for achievements or going after your daily tidy streaks.

now for some positives; the art is very cute and well done, so overall there is a nice cozy theming while you complete the levels. because the levels are so short, it's good for a quick coffee break and rejuicer while you do your homework, or if you're playing an intense fps shooter and need a step back for a second.

i wouldn't recommend this game; i think it made me more frustrated at myself rather than calming me down.

the walking dead michonne is alright - compared to the main telltale series, this game doesn't check as many boxes as the other four games. i noticed a fair share of bugs during my playthrough and the voice acting was mediocre, even weak in comparison to the other games.

for the price of the game, i wouldn't recommend picking this up unless it's on a -90% discount, like when i bought it - the playtime is not that long and the story is not as impactful because it's a completely different story that focuses on michonne from the comics.
yes, that means no clementine and lee; they aren't even mentioned here. this game serves more as a bridge for people reading the comics or watching the show.

however it can still be enjoyable for fans willing to enjoy more content from telltale.

if a neutral recommendation option existed, i would pick that.

at last, we come full circle back to where it all began.
this is the final installment in the telltale walking dead series (apart from michonne, of course), and it seriously does NOT let you down.

we watch, over the course of four seasons, clementine develop from a polite and mature girl into a hardened, independent and compassionate individual - she represents the embodiment of the indomitable human spirit, and the humanity still left in a post-apocalyptic world.

the game is absolutely fantastic. the amount of parallels this game shows between lee and clem, and clem and aj shine clearly; the ending felt gratifying and fit for her journey.

you won't be disappointed.

probably the weakest entry in the series, but still very enjoyable to play through. plenty of emotional moments and you still get to see clementine in this season which is a bonus, though it is a shame that you don't play as her.

there are some bugs in the game that i didn't notice in the first two games - one example was in chapter 4, where one of the textures didn't load and caused constant screen tearing, blocking the subtitles and scene. epilepsy warning!
another bug i encountered was during the part where javier walks through the crowd of walkers while blending in - after you die, some stretched meshes stick around from the walker's saliva when you respawn

a good installment in telltale's the walking dead series.

worth picking up during a steam sale

in my personal opinion, i think that season two was the strongest out of all of the 4 games. it has incredible emotional highs and lows, and a wide cast of likable characters.

luke didn't deserve his fate.
