Review After 100% Achievements

Lords of the Fallen has definitely carved its own slice out of the souls-like genre with this entry. This has been a title that I knew I would enjoy from the moment they announced a sequel to their previous game released almost a decade ago. After spending around 140+ hours in this game so far, I can confidently say that it has exceeded my expectations and more. Level design absolutely blew my mind, music is great, build variety is awesome, axiom/umbral realms work really well, and the natural progression/story of the game was extremely fun to play multiple times to achieve all endings. Coming fresh off of Lies of P, almost all of the bosses felt super easy to me but I play a ton of souls-likes. Performance was pretty solid in my experience as well, with very little fps drops and a few crashes. Major shoutout to the dev team for constantly updating the game and listening to the community! Crossplay was disabled at release, but since the new update I’ve done another playthrough with my brother who is on PS5 and everything worked flawlessly. All of the achievements are what you’d expect from a souls-like with majority coming from either fallen bosses, side quest completion, weapon upgrades, item collections, and endings. I’m definitely a fan of multiple endings and the side quests were really cool; although a lot of them being super easy to miss. I was a bit skeptical about the no vestiges in NG+ feature, but now the option of going NG+0 with the new update is a quality-of-life improvement and it makes achievement hunting less of a chore. The collection achievements were a grind to say the least, collecting the weapons, armor and umbral stigmas took me a few sleepless nights to track down. This year has been awesome for souls-like fans. I’m just glad we were fortunate enough to get another heavy hitting title in the mix that will only push this genre to the next level! Well done Hexworks, can’t wait to see what’s next!
