If I were to compare this to anything else I would say it has the sinister, slightly otherworldly atmosphere of Diablo I; the loot-festival fun that was Diablo II plus an economic system that makes the hunt for items an even bigger entertainement piece of gaming at its best. And it's free, you can pay for some cosmetic things and extra space for items, a really honest way for a free to play game earns its money. It may not be as visually beautiful as Diablo III, but for everything else - I'm including here the most amazing skill tree system I've ever seen in a game; a little tweak to the mechanism and you've got a map of dots (each one representing a skill or bonus) and you actually draw lines and connect dots to create a unique version of a character (it may sound pure gimmick until you spend some hours with it) -, it has all the qualities that are missing in Diablo III and makes the third of an amazing series an inferior version of its antecessors. Not that Diablo III doesn't succeed in many parts - one of the reasons I'm comparing the general features between these games. But PoE is a one of a kind.
