Early Access Review
Cool game, has some interesting ideas that you can probably piece together from the negative reviews. I'm not quite at that point in the game, yet, but I'm fine with the idea of restarting from level 0 all over since there are truly AFK/bot like methods that you unlock. The UI is meh, the way left click always opens a menu is cumbersome, things respawn a little slower than I'd like, and it's hard to tell where I am in a crowd a lot of the time. My only other big gripe is that there's no universal banking which is fine for the most part, but juggling items on the ground because there's literally nowhere you can store them feels like an oversight or maybe I'm just missing something. It's free to play and you get a decent amount of content, so it's definitely not going to hurt to try it out. :^)

Fun and cute game that's built around exploration and low-consequences. The world is really nice and colorful and reminds me of a Katamari world. Bought it for my wife so she can play it on her Steam deck, then ended up getting it myself. Story is short but sweet and I'm planning on going back and getting 100%.

TL;DR cozy cat game where you make friends with other animals with a lot of side quests. Easy recommendation.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I was doing the entire time but it felt good to do. Also, I equipped a literal horse, so 15/10

get it while it's on sale for $1.49
get it while it's not on sale for $2.99

worth it either way

This game is stupid fun. The matches in unranked or competitive are still pretty fast and it's easy to drop in and out of when time allows. The artwork is really nice and refreshing and it's simple in concept but actually has a bit of depth to it. You can knock people off the arena if they get too greedy or you soften them up with abilities. You can buy all characters with gold you get from playing games and there's three customizations called "trainings" that you can equip to your character to fit different play styles.

As far as monetization, it's pretty much all just skins and emotes which is acquired through a battle pass:

The skins are all pretty legit so far though, I think I've seen one base recolor (free in the battle pass) and the others are all different clothing and gear on. To no surprise, the selection of skins in the open beta are pretty limited.

The battle pass is pretty easy to complete, but I still haven't completed it so I'm not sure how much time it really takes to get all 30 awards on. There's also free and premium rewards, so you still get something for completing it.

There are daily and seasonal tasks which are fun for getting rewarded for just playing the game and mixing it up a bit.

All in all, I really enjoy this game and I'm excited for more characters and possibly game modes! It's free to play, so you might as well try it out and see if you enjoy it as much as my friends and I did.

P.S. There's no in-game chat or voice chat outside of using emote stickers and I think there's a pinging system, but I have yet to see anyone use it nor have I used it myself. If you like competitive games but avoid toxic communication, then you might enjoy this.

The game itself is pretty fun but without any sort of air blocking or "burst" function to break out of a combo, you'll find yourself just getting juggled most games and dying after making two mistakes.

I've been playing grappler and it's probably the most fun I've had with a grappling character ever, but things like having an actual DP can really hinder the gameplay, especially when most of a cast functions in that way. I don't mind that it's a counter and it's really sick when you pull it off, but mechanically it's a huge disadvantage since you don't have a reliable "get off me" tool.

If you're playing a character that's not long-range, it feels more like a rhythm game with trying to move in and hitting the block macro. That in itself isn't an issue especially considering what damage output short-range characters can do, but when you can get sniped with a low at half-screen and then get comboed, it feels really bad. Also mixups are non-existent due to the aforementioned block macro which is sn obvious design choice and is totally fine, but does take away a layer of complexity.

I think even just adding an air block would be a really huge upgrade to the play style so that I'm not just stuck to holding down block and popping up for overheads. I am at the casual scrub level, so there's definitely other issues that could arise from that but I'm hoping with a balance patch that I can turn this review in the other direction and I'm staying hopeful for that.

P.S.

Pls give grappler an awakening skill that isn't just the worse version of an existing one and seemingly nerfs his conversion opportunities, I cry every time.
