Project Wingman is the everyman's Ace Combat. The fanatic dev team took a gamble on trying to recreate some of the best things about the AC series and created something that is both fun while still managing to be unique enough to avoid the stigma of being a "clone".

Technically, it's impressive how nice it looks even on older hardware and how optimized it is for a game that looks as good as it does. Gameplay wise, it's built on the framework of an arcade dogfighting series like AC, so expect heavy use of missile spam but there's enough freedom to give the adventurous player some fun choices. The music has some instant classics, but is otherwise unimpressive. Visually, it's a beautiful game that does its best to render some of the best skyboxes, weather, and SFX I've ever seen.
