Don't mind my hours, I read this like over a decade ago as my first visual novel, and it's what made me fall in love with the genre; a reread is certainly imminent, and I'm overjoyed to have the opportunity, finally, to officially support a proper Western release.

An absolute favorite of mine, not just amongst visual novels but throughout fiction in general. Between the CGs, one of my favorite OSTs, the vocal performances, and Nasu's distinctive style of prose, this work sucks you in with an excellent prologue before diving into a character study of the incredibly bizarre and broken lad known as Emiya Shirou. Come along on three incredibly distinctive routes as we explore 50 Shades of Shirou and ruminate on what being a hero means, and the psychology of molding one's life around an ideal, all while immersing ourselves in the shady, violent, and mysterious world of modern mages and their obsession with fancy chalices and Battle Royale.

Shirou is an insane person and I love him in equal proportion to how much I want to punch him in the face at any given moment. You will always feel something about him, for better or worse. I'm immensely happy to see a remaster hit Steam so that a new generation of VN enjoyers can dive right in. This also means that all you fine folks can enjoy the Taiga Dojo in all its glory. Explore some absolutely WICKED bad ends. Set "A Quiet Voice" as your alarm clock so you, too, can start the day like a clueless, traumatized ascetic.

Naturally, being the Realta Nua version of the visual novel, you won't literally get 50 Shades of Shirou, and that's probably for the best, because the replacement scenes were actually made to be coherent to the tone and pace of the rest of the narrative. However, if you're fine with a little NSFW, go expose yourself to the non-Realta Nua version of certain scenes for some very memorable quotes that will surely woo ladies everywhere.

There's still no Caster route but we can't have everything we want in life. This is a genuine classic regardless. Truly, we are in a blessed timeline after all. Sasuga Zelretch.
