Early Access Review
Holy balls, the game sucks so much.
- Asset flip models, never a good sign;
- Story has no proper explanation, something about a professor doing something and for some reason you and other poor people are inside these warframe-like suits;
- No direction to everything, gotta scour stuff hidden. Even from the first room there are two objectives hidden;
- Sometimes stuff that were not there before suddenly are after you complete an objective. Like the "reaction" bottles;
- Objectives are only told AFTER you accidentally complete them. Gee, thanks;
- Some places just have invisible walls to stop you to progress;
- Boring, uninteresting walking simulator. Nothing to do besides find what random crap somewhere the game wants you to touch;
- No way to disable Motion Blur;
- Sudden rise on the price with no content. Obvious SCAM;
- Even other walking simulators like "gone home" manage to be MORE INTERESTING than this;

( Review made on version 1.0.5 )

Mythforce is one of those cases where the game is great, feels great, has a more casual vibe than most melee action rpgs, but right now it lacks POLISH and not the language type.

Only about 9 different stages where a lot of the scenery repeats itself, there's a lot areas and even on highest difficulty enemies are scarce. Most of the time you're just by yourself collecting loot from pots and chests and avoiding traps on the floor.

If that kind of "chill" first person combat is your bread and butter, by all means go for it.

But otherwise, maybe wait until version 1.2 update, they are gonna rework a lot of things, it won't even feel like the same game.

But why i'm giving it a good review? Cause im a sucker for coop melee combat games. The gameplay is very akin to my favorite game, Vermintide 2. Arguably a very "diluted" one but still.

Basically, give these guys some time. the community is small, the game is small, but it might surprise us one day.
The devs are very active in the community.

Okay so, bad stuff front and center first.:

- Game always online, server system sucks bla bla bla you've already seen enough about this, I don't need to add more about it. But yes I agree with the complains.

- Matchmaking is crappy at best, servers are always busy to the brim but most of the time you'll get matched with no one or just 1 guy that will randomly leave anyway after the heist starts for god only knows what reason.

- Crossover is interesting but it causes updates to be delayed for everyone due to Sony horrible approval system where they take like WEEKS to approve a code of like two lines of changes. We had a patch due since 5th Oct, Today is 15th and it's still not here, cmon Sony.

- Game feels like a mobile game sometimes because of two things:
1) The Offshore system was replaced by a bitcoin-like thing, called C-Stacks. You can spend like $90,000 for 10 of those things, but after you do, the next one is $225,000, the next is like $500,000 and all the way up to $20,000,000. Here's the mobile part: You can WAIT like 6 days to get the $90,000 value again. ONCE.

And yeah most stuff that you buy with c-stacks are like 50 c-stacks each. There's also a skin for a A144 for like 500 c-stacks. Each glove is like 50 c-stacks. it's... crappy.

2) To level up, you need to do "quests". As in, kill 1000 enemies with a weapon, 400 headshots with a weapon, 500 Aim Down sights kills with a weapon, finish the same heist in a specific difficulty like 150 times and so on.
If you dont complete those challenges you get 0 xp. sucks to be you.

I suggest waiting about 1~3 years to make sure the game is in a better state before diving in unless you're really a fan of the series.

==================

Now let me talk about the GAMEPLAY stuff about it. Listen, i'm not here to be a Starbreeeze shill, i hate their poor management as much as the next guy. I just think there are enough reviews about the bad stuff so I don't need to add more fuel to the fire.

- Stealth system is cool as ♥♥♥♥, much better than Payday 2, there are new mechanics and you're not guaranteed to ♥♥♥♥ up all the time. Remember to do the tutorials, it will explain everything to you better than I could do here.

- Loud is interesting, but cops are tanky. Need a lot of skills to dish out decent damage.

- 8 heists, one of them being Loud Only the other 7 are both Stealth / Loud.

- Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf, Chains, Joy and a newcomer called Pearl are the available chars. Yeah, not quite a GOOD thing but i'm glad the main quartet is here because due to how the story ended in PD2 there was a chance not all of them would be playable characters at least.

- A woman called Shade does the job that Bain used to.

- Captain Winters has been replaced by a FBI female agent inside a van, you just break the antenna and she's like "OH NO MY ANTENNA! CAN'T DO ANYTHING NOW!" (lmao) Other than that she's the same as winters, as long as her antenna is up you get infinite waves

- On that note, remember those infinite waves we would get anyway on some heists after you advance enough objectives? They're here too, it's called "Final Charge" or something. And the cool thing is that if you stealth like 90% of the heist and THEN go loud, it starts on the final charge already.

- You can now use civilians and cops as meatshield. cops wont fire at you if you have someone as hostage, except if they are behind you. you can easily just spin around and they will stop shooting.

- Also if you're cooped up somewhere like a small room or a bathroom idk, bring a civilian with you, just having a civ there will make the cops NOT throw GRENADES at you because they could kill the civs.

- ON THAT NOTE... The special units at the moment are: Shield, Sniper, Dozer, Cloaker, Taser (now called ZAPPER for some reason), and ... "Nader" (as in, GRENADER). This mf will toss a POISON grenade that will make you choke on your own blood and your health bar will be sucked as fast as a cold Capri Sun in a 100ºF summer day.

- You can shoot through the tiny glass panel of the shield and headshot him

- You can break the Dozer faceplate as usual

- Tasers have a tiny box on the left of their waist, you can shoot that to disable their shock abilities and also stun him + all other cops around him. You can also hurt yourself or a teammate if you dont have a specific skill that avoids that, so careful.

- Nader has a grenader belt right on his chest, if you shoot that, he will explode by himself but you can also stun yourself or teammates if you're too close when it explodes. No damage though, just stun.

- Cloaker is like a true ninja now. You'll see him sliding, doing parkour stunts just like a Jackie Chan movie, and if you're on a high place, this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will think he's Batman and GRAPPLING HOOK to you and do a Sonic spin jump to jump upon the landing area where you stand. At least now, to help a teammate downed by the cloaker you can just kill the cloaker, no need to manually revive them.

- Oh yeah, on that note, if you're masked up, you can sprint and slide too. You can also vault by grabbing on any ledge or something, but that's the limit of your parkour abilities.

- Heists equivalent of Payday 2 are as follows, in parenthesis:
-- No Rest for the Wicked (Bank Heist / First world Bank)
-- Road Rage (Armored Transport)
-- Dirty Ice (Jewelry Store / Diamond Store)
-- Rock the Cradle ( Nightclub / Alesso Heist)
-- Under the Surphaze ( Art Gallery )
-- Gold & Sharke ( Big Bank )
-- 99 Boxes ( Ukranian Prisioner )
-- Touch the Sky ( Buluc's Mansion .... kinda. )

The lore is explained with slidescreens + voice action between the heists in the heist selection screen.

- No more Crime.NET, you need to pick the heist, difficulty and joining permissions, and hope you find someone playing at that moment in that difficulty, yes, it's stupid.

- You need to make a PARTY BEFORE opening the heist to play with your friends

- To play solo, you need to go "Invite Only" option, but that thing is busted because someone can just open your steam profile and press the "Join Game" button. So expect invasions. Most invaders are chill af tho.

- Silver edition gives you 6-month season pass (allegedly) + a silver mask
- Gold edition gives you a 12-month season pass (allegedly) + silver edition mask + statue of liberty mask + golden gloves
- Complete edition (physical only) gives you all the silver edition and gold edition stuff + an exclusive mask for complete edition

- Mods are already possible, but no official support has been made, it was all done by the community because this game runs on Unreal Engine 4 and at this point everyone and their mom knows how to mod the heck out of it.
Still, due to a lot of things in this game being server side, it's not so simple to just make anything you want.

You can grab mods on these two sites. ANYWHERE ELSE IS JUST PEOPLE STEALING MODS FROM THESE WEBSITES:
https://modworkshop.net/g/payday-3/mods
https://www.nexusmods.com/payday3/mods/

I think... that's about it. more or less. I might have forgotten a thing or two but I think I've covered at least 95% of the game.

Haven't finished yet because of being currently busy with life stuff, but i enjoyed the heck out of it.

My only complains are the fact I enjoyed the "supposedly annoying" music from the neighbors way more than the default music that plays for you.

I was gonna complain about the house too but i saw that in the full game we can buy a better place to live.

Rest is much better and it's actually fun unlike that "welcome to the game" one where you have to constantly do weird puzzles for no reason.

Never keep your credit card information in your computer, people!

Same issue as the other one. Runs like ♥♥♥♥. I've even upgraded my computer since this last one. Now I'm way past both the minimal and recommended requirements, all of them are 2 times above and some are 3 times above.

Still runs like ♥♥♥♥ at like 12 fps.

I'll just download dolphin and play them all on gamecube emulation, thank you.

What the game did right:
- Halloween enviroment, sounds, everything.
- Platforming akin to Psychonauts and such
- Collectaton challenges that impulse you to explore, challenging enough, not too hard, not too easy.
- Skins being unlocked by in-game progression instead of paid DLC.
- Conversation humor is on point. Got a chuckle out of me in many moments
- Translation seems amazing, can't say much as i've only seen english and portuguese, can't understand the other languages
- Weapon variety is cool and interesting, got me changing weapons mid fight to strike cooler combos
- Minigames were, most of the time, a good break from the constant combat that gets mundane after a while.

What they did wrong:
- The only map that had some sort of extra dimension was the war one. The others seem boring and flat. They are amazing looking, sure, but i'm talking about gameplay area. Most of them are like a big ass field with a few objectives here and there and some hidden goodies here and there. it feels "flat".
- Combat is either boring and repetitive or absurdly scaled on difficulty outta nowhere. enemies can hit you during your attack or dodge, absolutely no i-frames at all.
- Catwalk sections slows you down and disables your double jump. I know what they went for in there, but that made me fall down more than it did on any other game with catwalks where I can just hop with precise jumps.
- While some mechanics have a decent "safe enviroment" presentation before appearing again in a challenging one (which is how it should ALWYAS BE), some new mechanics are thrown into you with no prior signaling, and they're always the ones that "GO GO GO RUSH RUSH OH NO YOU'RE DEAD NOW". You gotta guess what the game is expecting from you or just die by trial and error. Horrible conveyance.
- Boss battles were cool but too frustrating. Some of them have several stages so if you die in one of them you gotta do the whole thing again. Sure that builds that sweet sweet "git gud" serotonin that you all gamers crave so much, but the way it's presented feels shallow, like the dev did that way to cause you to spend more than 2 hours with the game so you can't refund it.
- The portal diving sections, oh god. How the HELL do you go through those legit? I did by sheer luck and always with a shiver of health left, after like a dozen tries. I've seen that diving-dodge mechanic in a lot of other games and they always did it nice, this one sucked at it. Again, bad conveyance. Worst of all, some obstacles can hurt you even before the screen clears up (still blinding white after it starts before it fades in)
- The final boss ended up being the easiest of every other boss (except the 1st and the 2nd, those are like baby-difficulty)
- Replay value is 0 unless you're an achievement aficionado and want to go for all the skulls, and even then it makes me feel tired just to think going through all that crap all over again.

Tl;dr: Game looks cool, sounds cool, is funny, but gameplay is either flat, boring or insanely difficult than it needs to be. always the extremes.
