RIMMER: Is something amiss?
LISTER: (a shakiness in his voice) Amiss? God no, what could possibly
be amiss?
RIMMER: You don't think there's anything amiss? I'm sitting here wearing
a red and white checked gingham dress... and army boots... and you think
that's un-amiss?
CAT: No, of course not. It's just that we thought you had gone nuts! We
were tryin' to humour you.
RIMMER: I was just doing a little test... a little test to see if you had
gone crazy.
Chooooooooooooo!
If there is one thing I can't stand, it's crazy people.
LISTER: Well we've passed the test, Rimmer... You can let us out.
RIMMER: I can't let you out.
LISTER: Why not?
RIMMER: Because the King of the Potato People won't let me. I begged
him. I got down on my knees and wept... He wants to keep you here... Keep you here for ten years.
CAT: Could we see him?
RIMMER: See who?
CAT: The King.
RIMMER: Do you have a magic carpet?
LISTER: Yeah, a little three-seater.
RIMMER: So, let me get this straight... You want to fly on a magic carpet... to see the King of the Potato People... and then plead with him for your freedom... and you're telling me you are completely sane!? I think that warrants 2 hours of... W.O.O.
LISTER: What's W.O.O?
CAT: You had to ask.
RIMMER: With... Out... Oxygen. No oxygen for 2 hours. That will teach you to be bread baskets.

Rimmer disappears.

LISTER: Now what do we do?
CAT: I think our only hope's the Potato King.

The ManBearPig of Video Games

Half Point & Click, half turn-based and half stealth.
It also has a hacking mini game, an RPG dialogue tree, like Mass Effect, all with fully voiced interactions. You may be getting a familiar story but it does it all well enough to enjoy the whole experience.

Rain of Reflections: Episode One, Set Free

Introduction:
As others have mentioned, Rain of Reflections is a blend of genres that clearly takes inspiration from things you've likely already seen and have played before, such as its plot, which is very reminiscent of the movies; Children of Men and Blade Runner.
It uses game mechanics similar to that seen in Point & Click titles and of course, turn based game play that reminds you (and everyone else) of XCOM but it still does its own thing with it. Such as; when bringing up your weapon wheel, when it's your turn you can select the "Speech," Option, which can either inspire your allies or demotivate your enemy, depending on which dialogue you select. It is something I've never seen before and I fully appreciated that it didn't just copy the XCOM formula verbatim.
In fact, when it comes to the dialogue, it is all fully voiced and when you are engaged with an NPC for any conversation there are options for you to choose in the dialogue tree, which is not quite as deep as something like Mass Effect but it serves its purpose well enough. So, yeah, ManBearPig.

Story:
As I hinted at above, the story is very similar to the story of Children of Men, set in a Blade Runner styled, dystopian future. I don't want to say too much here, which is why I focused more on the mechanics, as the story is what people are going to want to experience for themselves. Is it original? Not from what I have seen so far but is it enjoyable? Yes, absolutely and this is just episode one of three, so who knows where it will go.

Issues:
Okay, this is where I feel like I am being nit-picky. The game is perfectly fine as it is, so long as you know WHAT IT IS before going in and that is an Indie Game with huge ambitions. This is not "AAA" Gaming, by no means, the visuals are nice at first glance but as you play on, you soon realise the game lacks that "AAA" polish to it. However, considering what we do get in "AAA" gaming these days, that isn't a bad thing at all, in fact, it makes me appreciate what they've done here all the more. Just be aware that the controls can feel a little janky at times but overall, it didn't hinder the experience for me at all.
Apart from these, admittedly, minor nit-picks there isn't too much to complain about. Which is good for you but not for me, as it is easier to write a bad review, than a good one but hey, that's my problem.

Watch:
Here is the first 15+ minutes of the beginning of the game, so take a look to see if it is for you.

Summary:
Rain of Reflections: Set Free is a nice blend of genres, with interesting yet familiar game mechanics, it may borrow elements from other properties that do these things better but it does enough to make them all its own to tell an interesting story. Well worthy of your time but remember that this is just Part One of a Three Part series and only you can decide if that is something you want to invest your time with or not. the price may seem a little steep for 4 hours of gameplay, however, I do feel the price is about right for what it is you are getting.
