Early Access Review
Much better than POE1 was in this stage of it's development. As a POE1 veteran there is so much to like about this. Some highlights:
WASD movement
Better campaign bosses
In game pausing when solo and saving position on DC, this is a game change for those with performance or network issues.

There is a lot of room for improvement and I believe we are currnetly playing the worst version of the game that will ever exist, once it leaves early access it will be even better. However even where it is at now it is in a very playable state.
Biggest problems are:
balancing issues which will be addressed in future patches (lack of build diversity, some builds shredding too hard)
endgame is kind of half-assed (this was a last minute addition so the game would have some kind of endgame on EA launch).

I recommend people to wait for it to exit Early Access because like I said the game will be much better by then with the pain points addressed but it is in a very good state as a foundation.

Very polished and well put together, feels like it could be a DLC to Portal 2.

I leave Sisyphus at the foot of the mountain. One always finds one's burden again. But Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of that night-filled mountain, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.

Hard to get an FPS Roguelike right, this manages to do it. A lot of depth between the characters which helps make every run feel different. Even if I never play the game again, I had a ton of fun with the time I spent with it, and feel like I can always go back and get an enjoyable experience.

I didn't get super far in the game (Around level 45) but uninstalled because the game was repetitive and taking a long time to get anywhere. It may improve once you finish the campaign content but I put many hours into the game (and avoided gathering materials or needless time-wasting) and still felt like the progression was way too slow. If they cut out all the quests which are just dialogue, picking up an object and putting it in a place 50 yards away, doing an emote, right clicking npcs, or going from place to place, you would have a much better game. If I cared about the story maybe those quests would be okay but I don't. People who want a game to sink 1000 hours into will maybe love this game, but I felt like the game just took way too long to get to the fun part. May revisit some day.

EDIT: my hours in this game are because I'd start the game and then fall asleep or do something else while in the server select screen, I don't actually have that many hours of playtime

My favourite BR game, it has the flaws every other BR game has (relying on good communication with teammates, possibility of getting third partied, possibility of not getting a decent weapon before dying) but compared with others in the genre I just prefer the gun play of this and although there is a high skill ceiling the learning curve isn't super steep.

I wish they would make a solo queue though, I get that certain legends aren't really designed for solo play (i.e lifeline) but the game really needs a real solo mode for us that have no friends because playing with randoms is a real coin toss in terms of whether they will DC before match start, land miles away, DC the moment they get downed, etc.
