If you're a fan of KOEI's Warriors games then, of course, you're going to love this. If you're new to the franchise, I'd highly reccommend this as a good place to start!

I usually buy actions games over on my XBox but as this was an exclusive to PlayStation, I am thrilled I was able to get it here on Steam instead. The game consists of all the hack and slash glory you'd want from a Warriors game and features loads of characters to do it with. I can't compare this to the original version of Samurai Warriors 4 as I never had the opportunity to play it, so I judge this game by its own merits rather than comparitively. The stories are great, though most of the content there will be old ground for anyone that has played previous instalments, and the gameplay is incredibly solid. Even once you've finished the story lines you'll have loads of levelling up to do, playing the game through on Hard modes and all of the extra missions to do in each map.

There is a create an officer but I never find it useful outside of the Empires games, where your own officer is a great way to play. Here you'll be more attached to the characters and their stories, I would imagine. To reflect this I found the create an officer to be quite limited when compared to Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires (played on Xbox One).

As a final comment, and one that all Warriors fans will know by now, KOEI have gotten exceptionally lazy in regionalising their games and this is no exception. There are no English voices, meaning you'll struggle to read what the characters are saying while trying to hack and slash through the battle. It's incredibly frustrating and will mean you'll likely be unable to get a real grasp of what is going on. Aside from this, now all too common complaint, the game is great.
