Bought it about three weeks ago, 280 hours on record.. need I more to say? ;)
The mix of Survival, Crafting, Building and (if you want) PVP for me makes it a compelling experience.
Zombies can be a real threat (depending on the Settings), Crafting and Building is kinda in depth & creative and is a lot of fun, expecially with friends.
PVP on the other hand can be a lot of fun with the right crowd on the right server with good seetings but these are, perhaps due to the recent H1Z1 release harder to find, since a lot of servers seem to be empty atm. You will still be able to find quite some servers though. (also, the server list needs some time to list all servers, so be patient)

Cons on the other side at the moment are performance issues & graphical glitches/bugs sometimes, a sometimes kinda weird sound detection system (mostly regarding the huge distance you can hear other players doing stuff very well), still missing customizable maps & the hackers on some servers.

With the new Alpha 11 release soon to come end of February according to the devs (and with it some technical improvements, the above mentioned custom maps and DIRTBIKES! :) ), Im looking forwards to what comes up in the future & Imo this game has great potential for hours & hours of fun, especially with some friends!

The price tag Imo is quite fair. Regarding its an alpha with some bugs, it still has solid gameplay.
It could be a tad less though.
If you see it on sale & are into Minecraftish Zombie-Survival, I'd definitely recommend to give it a try!
