Originally started on PS4, and moved to PC. Rivals is the place i return, no matter what games i play. If you check my profile, you will see that i have many hours in Heat, Hot Pursuit Remastered. I also own Unbound and 2015 on EA with over 300hrs in total.
This review is edited, with about 750hrs in Rivals. Its that fun, that enjoyable (im stuck here, please send help). Playing with friends is a great option (but good luck getting through this buggy mess). But when youre playing alone... youre not alone! There are still players, in the next session (what if they ain there?)
AI can get boring, so why not go online? Rivals is still alive, even after those 11yrs. There is a chance that Rivals will be shutdown, but its Peer to Peer so maybe it wont? (it probably will, this is a hidden buggy gem)
With players, you will experience what Rivals really means. It means winning, losing, wrecking, killing, competing. There are many ways to describe this. But remember one thing, everyone at some point will hunt you down, so either you fight or run away. You can die, or you can survive. Just know that there are cheaters out there that have nothing better to do but cheat in this 11yr old game... get a life, please
Well, original review was most likely with 30hrs or maybe more. But this time, with over 750hrs i will redo that. Rivals is a great game that is worth playing, if you loved Hot Pursuit and want open world - Rivals is for you. Mod compatibility is there, but its very hard (created a small mod myself). I sadly missed peak Rivals, with clans and so much more. But i managed to bring that back.
This game is a mess, get only on sale, play with friends or play solo, check out Rivals+ mod tho. And bear in mind that there are cheaters in this game, reporting doesnt work, and EA is lazy af to even implement it in latest Unbound...

Hope to see Rivals 2, knowing that it will not happen. This game was my childhood, brutal cops, great map, back then everything was easier. Now here i am, editing this very review after 100hrs since last time. I stopped playing, i rarely play nowadays to be honest. So yeah, its better than current gen slop that they put DLSS and call it a day. Funny, no?

EDIT: Well, well, well, how the turntables. EA decided to just straight up kill Rivals on October 7th 2025. What about Most Wanted 2012? Nothing, they keep it alive. I wouldnt lie if i said that i was expecting this time to die, but not this year, not year after i created a clan. Its sad... just sad. But Rivals never was loved in first place, if you check steamdb stats, you will see that peak was like 3k players, 24hr peak is about 200 and currently there are less than 100 playing. Funny. Luckily this game doesnt need an offline patch, since UNLIKE THE CREW GAMES THAT NEED CONSTANT INTERNET, this one can be played offline.
Still, good memories, still, will play it.

Edit, on day of shutdown: 786hrs clocked in, and part of me has died with this game. I loved that game, even if it was a buggy mess on PC, i loved it on PS4 even when i played offline all the time. So, this probably will be the last edit. Im gonna dedicate it to few people that i met here, and enjoyed our time together. Thank you Grabuss, for making Rivals+ and doing a collab with Heated. It meant quite alot for me and my clan, youre a nice guy and im looking forward to your other projects. Thank you Officers of Heated, for helping me out with clan and representing it, i know, it wasnt much, but still thank you for your time.
