I want to give this game a thumbs up, but the flaws in combat make this game overly difficult. Fast enemies that can stun-lock you and instant kill wandering bosses aren't something that should be in survival horror games. The item management is really well done, and the atmosphere is very creepy, but those can't save it when you constantly lose progress over cheap deaths.

Crow Country is an amazing nostalgia trip back to Silent Hill. The atmosphere is tense and dark, and the horror comes through in the story and monsters. There are lighter moments, and everyone seems to be talking about the mushroom puzzle, but honestly it doesn't take away from the loads of care and charm that was obviously put into this game.

If you're expecting Resident Evil style brutality or item management, it's not here, and I wouldn't expect it to be. A lot of people are comparing this to that series, but I feel it fits snugly into its Silent Hill niche. there is no item management or storage, and the unease comes from the story, design, and constantly looming enemies, rather than the constant threat of a game over.

TL;DR, read the notes and get immersed. This game focuses on story and mood and delivers on both 110%

This will become a thumbs up once the QoL updates on switch and ps4 come to Steam. I want the old soundtrack and font text. It's a shame that i'm glad i got the 3DS versions of 3 and 4 before I bought the other PR versions.
