The game is Dragon's Dogma 1 on steroids. This is one of very few examples where a sequel is just more of what was great, and the new stuff doesn't detract or distract. Performance I expect to get better as with most releases. Microtransactions are just whale bait, it's all very easily obtainable in game through normal play. I've had 3 Wakestones already in the 7 hours played at writing. Limit of 10 portcrystals on the map at a time which you will get through play. None of it was a surprise as equivalent MTX has existed in the majority of Capcom's releases in the last 10-12 years, including critical successes like DMC5 and MH:W. Knee-jerk reactionaries are just loud, don't miss out on this game. If your PC can't handle it just yet or you don't want to pay $70, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is also a fantastic buy often on sale and has a great deal of the same mechanics and ideas you will see in this entry.
