Removing content like grottos, nested portal dungeons, harbor towns, black zone cities, etc. really hurt the direction of the game IMO. SBI became obsessed with their consensual/non-consensual pvp and forgot to focus on developing their sandbox elements.

PvP is looked down upon in yellow and red zones, and gaining a negative rep has no redeemable qualities. It takes weeks, if not months to reverse what rep damage you can do in a single day. They had an opportunity to create pirate cities where criminals had to spawn and live out of and form their own ecosystem. A bounty system, if developed correctly could add meaning to the reputation system.

Beta 1 felt so much different than the current state and direction. It was raw and pure, and now it's gone for better or worse.

P.S. SBI will ban your reddit/forum accounts if you harshly criticize their game. They will censor you. You have been warned!

Atmosphere: A++
Gorgeous visuals, runs modestly well, great creature and character designs (wish we could see slight variations in the necromorps, like a queen etc. Androids creepiest NPCs in the game.

AI: C+
Boring combat for the most part except fighting the Joes, always tense situations. Alien AI just loops around the corridors; You end up playing peakaboo with them, save up flamethrower rounds so you can speed run the latter half of the game.

Story: C
Solid characters and voice acting. Minor characters are fleshed out really well. Major flaws with the story in the 3rd and 4th quarter of the game. Other than a couple of new toys, flamethrower/boltgun, there are not many new game mechanics in the second half of the story. Game simply goes on waaaaay too long.

Overall it's a must play recommend from me. If you enjoyed games like Soma, then you'll love this game.

Every game needs a great foundation. As a an early access survival RPG, this game has had an impressive start. The interface is fairly straight-forward. The game simply works, and any bugs that arise are mostly due to lack of polish. I've had issues going full screen on my Nvidia 750ti, flickering to black; may be driver issues, but now I just go windowed. I've had the most fun building by far. As a carpenter you can build structures, walls, and essential components for many other skill lines. The fun is multiplied when you have a group of friends to work towards a common goal. Need to lock up your cabin? Ask a fellow survivor to make you one, and maybe supply him with materials to ease the process.

So should you play this game? Definitely yes. There are hundreds of hours of content and game experiences to be had, but you should be prepared for the dangers of human players as well. Find some good friends and a spot to claim as your own in this sleeper MMORPG.
