holy hell this game is good, you honestly have to try it yourself to really know what it's like

simple but great and well-executed story with thoughtful writing, insanely good turn-based rpg gameplay that put traditional turn-based rpgs to shame by being actually fun to play, great aesthetics, super well-fitting music (though it takes the binding of isaac approach to music where some of it is just painful to listen to to set the mood of the battle), splig has a chance to heal 0 hp with confusing conversion, and there's an item that nukes the entire field when you get hit

10/10, made me feel emotionally invested in a story with no dialogue, 2 colors and where all the characters are squares or circles

y'all need to just buy the game, words don't do it justice

if you like the vibe the trailer on the steam page has, then OMORI's probably gonna be one of the best games you've ever played

trust me

This game is NOT for everyone, I will start with that (though that goes for any precision platformer that isn't called Celeste).

The End is Nigh is probably one of the most memorable games I've ever played, it's hard to explain. The movement, while a bit janky (the ledge grab mechanic takes a bit of getting used to and there are some hidden mechanics that the game doesn't outright tell you), is incredibly smooth. Oddly enough, the water physics are great! Though the level design does sometimes throw hidden hazards at you in the later levels, respawning is nearly instant so the time loss is minimal. The world you explore is cohesive and surprisingly large, with many hidden offshoots that lead to secret challenges and collectibles, some of which are even harder bonus challenges in the form of carts (not for the faint of heart!). The End is Nigh's OST is comprised of classical music remixed into Ridiculon's crunchy metal style and is absolutely one of the best OSTs I've ever heard in a game, fitting each unique area in interesting ways. I guess all I can say for the story is that it's simple, cute and confusing after the first playthrough.
On another note, The End is Nigh has an active modding community that's making even more content at the time of this review (namely Extended Shattered Spectrum).

tl;dr at least buy the ost
