I rented (yes, rented) the original Game Boy game some 30 or so years ago (it was also on some of the personal computers of the time). I didn't beat it while I had it. Now I finally got the chance, and the new adventure is fun too. The original game is quite rare and hard to find. I never expected a remake to ever exist, but I'm glad someone liked it as much as I did.

The Original mode is quite faithful, although I recall the shortcut paths being much closer to pixel perfect than in this version. Of course I realized later if you skip rooms, you limit your score at the end! Try to clear it all!

And the new levels accompanied by a humorous rhyming story is quite fun. It's easy to play and hard to master. If you think you have, you can put that to the test with the built in speedrun mode. The game isn't too tough if you take your time, but going fast is very hard. Charming 2D graphics add to the enjoyment as well as all new boss fights. Definite reccomend from me!

I doubt many people noticed this game, and its really a shame, It's one of those great games nobody's heard of.

Game runs totally fine on my Ryzen 9 7800X and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT at 1080p.

Yes, you need a pretty good system to play this game, but the system requirements reflect that and the level of detail in the game is plenty good enough to justify the demand placed on your PC. Anyone reviewbombing this over low performance is simply cranking the settings too high for their configuration or perhaps they don't meet the system requirements. I've also had no crashes or other major technical hurdles to overcome.

Have been having a blast with no complaints. Gameplay is excellent, polished very well from World. Personally, I find the difficulty to be just right so far, not Dark Souls, not Care Bear Land. Get over yourselves and review games on their merits.

"Please Read The Instructions"

You guys know there's a reason why it's been more than a decade since games commonly came with instruction manuals right?

(to add a little bit of explanation, every single loading screen bids you to "please read the instructions to improve your experience", when really, they should have just introduced concepts as they arose with (skippable) tutorials- And even then, the instructions provided are missing a lot of important information. The game teaches you almost nothing during gameplay and instead insists you read the instruction manual. Devs should be trying to make the experience naturally good on its own, rather than urging the user to take action to improve their own experience)

its not perfect, and could really use more content. But what's there is fun and I hope it gets the support it needs to go the distance.

PROMOTE YOUR GAME, WB, YOU DIDNT MARKET IT AT ALL

This game is over 11 years old at this point and it still holds up as one of the best kart racers that doesn't bear the name Mario Kart.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews complaining about big bugs and issues, but I honestly have not had that experience.

In many ways this plays like a budget version of Fire Emblem and I found the overall gameplay solid, if maybe a bit inconsistent in difficulty. The number of classes is limited but they are fun to use, the historical context is informative and enhances the experience. The game doesn't knock my socks off with its visuals, but they're still pretty decent. The difficulty levels offer the tension weight of decision making like Fire Emblem but offer more leeway, with the option to have allies die after falling battle twice or three times instead of just once. The latter is still an option as well.

There are two things from Fire Emblem I wish the game had though. First being the undo feature newer games in the series have. The game does mitigate this somewhat by automatically making auto saves for your last few turns in battle. This also, for me at least, mitigates some of the technical issues others have discussed. Generally very little progress is lost if the game does crash, which only happened to me once.

The other thing I would wish for is interaction between allies, like FE's support system. The only problem is currently, the allies you get are random and also customizable; for these reasons it would be difficult to implement as you can't really get attached to your companions.

Overall I found the game to be very enjoyable with not too many issues. I was rather surprised to see the low Steam review score after playing. I did run into some bugs and one crash; but nothing terribly bad or unusual.

I write game reviews for Gamerescape.com. A link will be provided when its available.

While there was clearly some effort made, particularly in the art department, this game suffers from a number of issues:

- There is no map. It calls itself a metroidvania, a genre that typically involves a lot of exploration and backtracking, and you don't get a map. Even when teleporting between areas, you don't get to see a map of the world. All you get is an almost entirely useless compass.
-Resources are very limited, especially early on, so while you have a bow and a wide range of spells you can learn, they are too awesome to use and must be conserved. Mana can only be recovered via consumable items, and arrows are relatively scarce. So you may as well only invest in your sword skills.
-The hero is the most annoying character in the game. He talks all the time, often saying completely random things, screams "damn" all the time, and attempts to fill quiet spots b y rambling story tidbits as if he's talking to the player.
-The game is extremely linear. While backtracking is occasionally needed, you're solely going back to collect some item or something you missed the first time because you didn't have the needed power yet. This is in contrast to other games in its genre where you revisit areas often and there is always a new path to take when you do.
-The game suffers most of all from simply being criminally boring. There are way too many dead spots where there is nothing to do but walk to the next room.
-The voice acting is horrible. Well, I don't want to be too hard on the voice actors themselves here. They were honestly just given terrible lines to read. That itself isn't surprising given that the English localization is so poor with tons of typos or bizzare phrasings. It's really hard to believe it's the primary langauge for the game (the only one with full audio).

Pros? Well, the game looks pretty enough The music is okay too, if rather generic. The combat isn't terrible either, though it could still be a lot better. But I don't think that's enough to save it.

Early Access Review
In contrast to some of Proton's other games to bear the "Time _____" moniker, this is a fun and engaging bullet hell. It has some progression mechanics that relate to its predecessors, although it is otherwise quite a departure from the rest of the franchise, with lovely 2D art (with some cool 3D-ish effects), tons of weapons and upgrades that are fun to use, and a constant barrage of enemies (and sometimes bullets) that force you to keep moving. The variety and challenge really does ensure that the game lives up to its name.

ProtonStudio is a 2-person team that has never failed to produce something good for hours of fun, and if you like this, even though it's significantly different in style from their other games, it is well worth giving them a shot.

The last game I played (which was the first I played) in the series was number 4, and the steam reviews for that one had a lot of controversy with a mix of love and hate depending on which game they played last.

Personally, I enjoyed game number 4, but noted the game had a steep learning curve and they didn't teach you how to do everything well. Not to mention the AI was broken and the "Very easy" AI was barely any different from the hardest setting, punishing new players hard. In spite of that, I gave it an 8/10 in my gamerescape.com review (https://gamerescape.com/2021/03/09/review-monster-energy-ama-supercross-the-official-videogame-4/) because ultimately, I had a lot of fun with it and it felt well put together in spite of the learning curve.

Back to game #6, while it's not a whole lot different from 4, everything that has changed is an improvement. The basic tutorial is about the same as before but the game follows this up with a choice of how serious you want the simulation to be, and offers a lot more tutorials and help to get you in the game. The AI difficulty is also much more accurately reflected by the setting you choose, with very easy actually being very easy and "realistic" (the hardest setting) being well, crazy hard.

I'm seeing a lot of strong reccomends and strong not-reccomends in the user reviews for this game, and what i've noticed is that players who have been with the series since the first few games are less likely to like the current direction. But newer / less experienced users like me seem to be enjoying it far more. I see a lot of complaints about the DLC too, but quite frankly in this game, I really don't care that much about the customization, I just want to race, so none of that bothers me. I have no intention of buying any DLC outfits in this game, to me all the race outfits basically look the same. And that's fine, because it wasn't that important to me anyway.

I had a lot of fun with this and if you aren't really really petty and/or nitpicky, you will too.

It's decent, but rough around the edges with an ugly generic font used for much of the text in the game, voice overs lacking much emotion, semi-decent but cheesy cutscenes, and a story that avoids giving details that would be meaningful to the player until far too late.

That and it's a REALLY shameless rip-off of fire emblem with a huge amount of its mechanics ripped straight from the FE series. If you like Fire Emblem's gameplay but you really just don't want to own a Nintendo device, it may be worth buying, but you're really better off just playing the real deal.
