This is no longer the Civilization game we fell in love with. This is more like Age of Empires. Breaking the game up has killed the need for science. You dont keep advancing your Civilization, you hit a "level" then when the ages change you leap frog forward skipping whole sections of scientific and cultural advances. During the "Exploration" era you are researching "Future Tech" instead of actually moving forward. As you move into these "magical" era changes you will find units and cities that you once had and that were happy are suddenly gone, no explanation. A lot of the fun and ownership of your culture has been stripped from the game.

I completed a full play through before posting this review so I am well past the 2 hour refund. Suffice to say I will not pre-order a Civiliation game again, especially not paying for the full delux version. Firaxis has lost my loyalty. Civ3 and Civ5 are giant leaps ahead better than this slop.

While the game looks beautiful and shows a lot of promise, the port from console to PC was done very poorly.

Wait a few weeks or months until they fix the PC play experience...

I just realized I havent played this in months. The worst of the BF series games to date. I have noticed they have steadily gone down hill over the years. I think i played BF2 the most, over a year. BF2142 even with all its bugs for a year. BF3 I got bored with after 6 months, BF4 maybe 6 weeks. But 2042? Just 17 hours before I was fed up with it. Same boring maps over and over and to many people using exploits. Funny how kill camera shows the guy that killed me on the ground under a building while i am on the roof of a skyscrapper in the center of it.

I think I am done with the Battlefield line of games now. To many bugs and exploits and to little content.

I completed the game at 72 hours total time played.

After I maxed out my character everything was pretty easy and I started to get bored with the side missions so just went ahead and finished the story line out. The only complaint was the final boss fight. You get him all the way down then some dialog and he's fully healed and you have to fight again. and then again.. and then... Personally I wanted an option to just finish him off the first time he was down, I had no desire to listen to his ranting...

Over all I liked the game and am happy with the amount of time I got out of it.

Without the newest NVIDIA driver I was still able to play for 5 1/2 hours before I had a crash. The game runs just fine on my old Skylake I7-6700K with an RTX 3090 graphics card at maxed out (ULTRA) Ray Trace settings on 1440P. I am averaging 60 FPS though often much higher, so the game is pretty well optimized for older hardware (no cpu bottlenecks) which is a plus.

The first couple of missions have you sandboxed and limits how much freedom you have to explore. This helps learn the game mechanics though are filled with a lot of dialog and cut scenes to help get you immersed into the universe. For future replays they do allow you to skip the dialogs and even the "riding around in cars".

The game looks great so far and is packed full of NPCs where ever you go. The melee combat system is a little clunky but the firearm mechanics are pretty much standard for any FPS..

I got to the point where I can free roam the map and overall I really like the game so far. Though more play time is necessary to really feel it out.

Update around 30 hours: No more crashes after the NVIDIA driver update. I havent ran into as many bugs as others but the bugs I have seen were:
+ changing gun in inventory slot while in game causes gun to pop in and and keep firing, reload and firing again. To stop this I had to switch weapons (L-ALT) and then scroll back and it worked normal.
+ Scanner mode pops up randomly and wont let you turn it off. Fix was to save the game and reload. This has happened 3 times now.
+ NPC enters Elevator but doors dont open for you. This happened on one of the original missions and the NPC keeps calling for you to get in but the doors are closed. Fix was to save and reload.

Complete waste of money

Everything you hated about Ultima Online (1 hour of mining for 5 minutes of play time) repackaged as a Space MMO.

No tutorial or instructions, many players are getting stuck at the INITIALIZING screen not realising they have to push and hold down the E key just to get INTO the game.

The planets are all pretty much the same, and all you do is run around and mine to get fuel to go run around and mine some more.

The game lags, freezes, then jerks around 180 constantly, even on medium settings on my Skylake I7-6700K, NVidia 980 GTX OC, 16gb RAM, and a Samsung .M2 950Pro SSD.

The company Hello Games completely lied to the players. The game is the same monotomous actions over and over. Not fun in the least. Going to be looking at a refund. And will never buy another title from this company

Dont waste your time or money on this title.
