One of my favorite games of all time. So much replayability, a great story, phenomenal voice acting and writing, easy-ish to pick up and hard to master. Wish I could experience it all over. 100% worth full price, 1000% worth it on sale. Looking forward to the sequel!

After playing over 20 hours of this light saber rhythm game, I can honestly say it’s easily one of the best replayable VR games out there. No game breaking bugs, no boring moments, just cube slicing fun. If you’ve been on the fence about getting it, pull the trigger. There’s a ton of mods you can currently get to have access to a whole variety of new content, from a library of thousands of community made song maps, to custom sabers/colors/etc.. 11/10 would recommend.

Game has a lot of potential in the next update or two, but for now I can't recommend it since the bugs/issues are game breaking. To list some of my bugs/complaints so maybe they can be looked into:

- No real menu to change any sort of settings, audio, restart, save, etc. Would be very helpful.

- Tutorial moves too fast and isn't detailed enough. I don't like sitting through a 30 minute tutorial but it needs to have enough to that all the controls and all the aspects of the game and how it works are touched upon. I felt like I was told half of what I needed to know and had to figure out the other half.

- Can't figure out (if it even exists) how to delete roads? Accidently clicking somewhere can place a bunch and it ruins things.

- As for bugs I've had a few. For one, snapping to the street is sometimes a little buggy.

- Switching between builder view and the first-person city view sometimes just doesn't work.

- If you're holding a building to place down in city view then switch to builder view while holding it, the building becomes gigantic.

- Buildings can rather easily fall through the map before being snapped to the street.

- First game I tried, after placing some roads and buildings, cars/people started to generate. After restarting, no matter what I did, no cars or people ever showed up.

- Tutorial sometimes bugged out and wouldn't start properly.

- Able to place roads directly under placed buildings, which isn't good.

None of these are "major" game breaking bugs on their own, but all put together I really can't enjoy, let alone even play the game in this condition. Again, this game has a ton of potential and I hope the devs are working hard to fix and address some/all of the issues people are having. For now, I'd recommend not picking this game up, however if most of the bugs are addressed, it can definetly be a great VR game.

Not sure why I'm writing this since it'll probs just get lost but anyhow, here's my review of this game.

I originally purchased this game around it's initial "Early Release" release over two years ago. The game back then seemed too vanilla. The concept was very intreguing. Being a huge fan of Terraria, the idea of that game on a much bigger scale really held my interest. To my disappointment, the game didn't have much to offer. Once you "beat" the game, which only took a day or two of playing, there was just nothing to do. And by "beat" i just mean aquire the best armor and weapons really. There wasn't really any story at the time.

Fast forward to now. 1.0 is released and the game has changed drastically. One day, a few weeks back, I decided to try this game out once more. It was all over the home page of Steam and it really made me want to give it one more chance, at least to the point where I felt like it was worth the buy. Well, I can honestly say that, after playing for another 20 hours or so and beating the main story, it isn't a bad game. The story progression is decent, the game mechanics are smooth, and it is overall an enjoyable experience. Before I explain any more in detail, I will list a few of my personal pros and cons.

Pro:
-Fun with friend (Multiplayer)
-Good sense of completion/accomplishment after completing main story quests
-Plays well (Good weapon/tool mechanics)
-Has a lot more potential

Cons:
-Quite boring alone (In my own opinion)
-Story is a bit too short
-Story missions are a bit too repetitive
-Final boss is the main one that doesn't feel very rewarding (also too easy and quick)
-Has a lot more potential

The reason I put "Has a lot more potential" on both is because it really is both good and bad. It's good that the developers have room to make the game better, but it's also not too good because at points, the game still doesn't feel fully complete. There also needs to be more variation in the main story. Every mission is just (spoiler warning possibly) scan (race) objects -> teleport to (race) location -> defeat boss. It just feels too wash-rinse-repeat. Anyhow, on a better note, the game is actually enjoyable with friends. Mining and building with others is fun, and upgrading your ship and EPP provides a fun feeling of progression. Exploring the various environments and fighting the different enemies is both exciting and annoying, but hey, I think those feelings combined make these type of games good. If it's never a little annoying, it's probably not challenging, and cake-walk games aren't generally as fun. The weapon/armor progressions/tiers were a bit confusing. It was a bit tricky to figure out when you really had the best things in the game, and the wiki wasnt much help. It seems to still be in the progress of being updated. Anyhow, let's wrap all this mess up into a conclusion.

Starbound is a fun game if you have another person to play with. If you are looking for a game that has a lot of replayability, I do not believe this is a game for you. It's fun to play through the main story once, maybe twice, but much more it just feels to overdone and boring. If you are okay with that, this game is a good buy. I was pleased with the newest update. If they add more to the story, I will consider playing again, but for now, once was enough. Like I said, there is definetly more that this game could be, the question is, will any more come of it?
