Silent Hill f is the first Silent Hill game I’ve ever completed, so you definitely can’t call me an OG fan. But that put me in a unique position: I got to experience this game on its own terms, without nostalgia or franchise expectations shaping my opinion.

I really enjoyed the story. I love that you need to play through more than once to fully understand what’s going on (or at least *ry to understand what’s going on). Even with the cultural differences and the time period, I still found a lot I could relate to.

Combat was… fine. Never terrible, but never fun either. Sometimes it got boring because of repetition, and other times it just got frustrating because the camera fought me harder than the enemies did. The puzzles weren’t very creative, and a few felt pretty poorly designed (corn field).

But the sound design, voice acting, visuals, and overall storytelling absolutely carried the experience for me. They kept me invested enough to play it twice. After that, I looked up a YouTube summary for the rest.
