Not often that a game really surpasses its successful predecessor. Especially when that predecessor was an attempt at remaking a very beloved classic game. Colour me most impressed.

As well as a very pretty graphical update, some lovely improvements and changes made to the gameplay - a far more varied range of mission types, greatly improved use of the world map, and I just love the stealth mechanic that's been introduced.

War of the Chosen definitely adds a great extra layer making missions feel a little more tense or critical - the Chosen have some great variety and require different tactical approaches which turn missions from a standard strategic approach to fights that feel a lot more frantic.

The Lost are excellently done and have had plenty of missions where my team have had to desperately run to an evac point whilst a ravening horde of zombies snap at their heels. They've really improved many scenarios with wave-based enemies that just don't stop coming, so classic approaches of just weathering foes down in a killzone won't work.

Even what appear like minor bits of faff genuinely add to the feel of the game. Eg: After a mission you can create a propaganda poster of the result & team. Seems pointless but you do get to see these start popping up in-game as textures, as well as things like wanted posters for some of your soldiers. Really helps make you give a damn about them rather than considering them as just expendable redshirts.

I can see already that I'm going to be sinking a good few hundred hours into this game. Damn worth it.
