40 hours in and absolutely loving it, obviously its missing some content and have encountered a couple of bugs but overall, super impressed. Feels more like appreciating art than gaming, spend plenty of time zoomed in just appreciating the buildings from different angles and watching my peasants go about their day. Haven't been this immersed by a game in this genre ever, and I have played alot of strategy/city builders! massive props to the dev. My advice would be use this momentum and success to expand, hire a solid team and build this out asap. Huge potential to dominate this genre, just capitalise and move quickly so people stick around. Scale up the maps, army sizes, add in some siege elements would be really cool. Maybe events like bubonic plague, inquisition, mongol invasion etc. And would be cool if each of the characters had a unique story as well, nothing crazy but just something to differentiate them a bit idk. Anyways massive props, 10/10 for design and atmosphere. Just add more content :)

I have found it to be a highly enjoyable game so far. Characters are interesting and deep, combat mechanics are satisfying and overall the game seems very well designed and unique. $90 well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: Terrible game, don't buy.

Such a negative reception was almost inevitable given the massive amounts of hype generated about this game. I have to say that I feel sucked in with everyone else, and had higher expectations for how good this game would be. This is not my reason for writing this review, as much as I feel that I should have payed less for a game with very little variation and progression. I have to say that the game ran really well on my PC from installation, and I am only running mid range/average specs, so I feel that alot of the people having trouble on higher end computers likely havent updated drivers or made some other simple oversight which has lead them to form such strong opinions of the game.

I truly believe that this is the future of gaming, in form and function. Obviously there could be far more attention to detail, more sub plots, more mechanics to keep people engaged, more avenues to success. But thats not the point. This is an entire virtual Universe, a gargantuan construction of maths and imagination that is infinite in its possibilities and scope. Just because the first attempt at synthesising a simulation of all existence didn't result in a smash success doesn't mean the project was a failure. It should show the world that there is a real hunger in the community for this style of game design, and if a larger and more competent team could take the reins on a grand vision like this something truly groundbreaking could result. Props to Hello games for attempting something so massive and complex, and they have my full support, especially in the face of so much criticism from haters who need a linear storyline and constant orders/objectives to enjoy a game.
