After a very rough start. the following 3 years made this game into one of the greatest of it's genre and the definitive cyberpunk experience.

Edit: I dropped the game shortly after dropping my review in June. I recently built a new PC, meant to only try out the FSR3.0 frame gen update.

That said, the game deserves to be played at maximum settings. And rarely do I have energy to replay a game the same year I completed it, but Cyberpunk just pulls you right back in.

I gotta say, it took me a while to warm up to this game. I was very confused about the mechanics when I started and it took me a while to get used to things. But once I did and found out that you don't have to hurry the game since you can transport water to your vault, I sunk countless hours to this game and I will continue to do so.

This game has been on my bucket list for years and I couldn't be more glad I finally got into it.

Sons of deforest. The amount of trees I've cut is insane to build walls, a house and all the essentials.

I first played this game a year ago when it was released in early access and now have almost completed the game in 1.0. This game has evolved nicely and met all my expectations.
Safe to say that this game is my favorite of the genre and definitely one of my favorite games of all time. It's the type that you don't put down once you've started it.

Also, I recommend to turn off AA if you're on 1080p. Your eyes get used to the lack of AA but the reason for this is that DLSS, FSR and all the anti-aliasing techniques are poorly executed with the upscaling techniques and AA looking blurry, except SMAA. However, SMAA looks exactly like how it does without anti-aliasing but it eats some of your FPS.

It WOULD be the best Yakuza game to date, if it weren't for many of the important features being locked behind a paywall. Still, I do recommend it.

The story hooked me from the very start and didn't loose the consistency in quality throughout the game. Side content is great too, although it's a shame that the legendary Karaoke minigame didn't make an appearance.
As far as combat and gameplay goes, before LJ was released with all it's refinements and additions, this definitely was the best brawler game on the Dragon Engine.

What Y7 and Judgement essentially proved is that RGG's games can definitely stand their ground as amazing games without Kiryu.
LAD8 is releasing tomorrow so I guess I'm not done with RGG quite yet.

I put off this game for 3 years because I don't like turn-based RPG:s and also because I disliked the change from beat-em-up to turn-based.
Now giving it another chance it might just be the best game I have played.

I don't care what people say about Yakuza 3. I used to hate it two years ago when I first played through the Kiryu-saga alongside with Yakuza 4 due to the jankiness and overall aged gameplay, animations and graphics. Not to mention that the jump from Kiwami 2 to Yakuza 3 was jarring back then.
Now, over two years later replaying these games, this game has this charm that no other game in the series come close to replicating. Everything I disliked about Yakuza 3 two years ago is something that I now love.
It's also nice to see Kiryu so happy during the first chapters of this game. So knowing the story of this game and the future titles didn't ruin it at all for me, instead it enhanced my opinion of the game and the overall story.

One tip for every player who jumps from Kiwami 2 to 3 is this; try not to compare those two games. Look at them from a different, more open point of view.

Now these take me back. I used to watch my two big brothers and their friends play the original two games often on our family computer. Although I never got into the classic games as a kid, they will always hold a special place in my heart simply because flash gaming was such an important part for me and my brothers growing up, and we played flash games together often.
When Union City released in 2011, I was hooked on that one so it is more nostalgic for me. Although it's sad that Union City has problems that weren't present in the flash version (most notably severe performance issues when more than 4 zombies on screen), I had a blast.
The games are also a lot easier than I remember they were. I got 100 % achievement completion of these games within 4 hours of purchasing and I had to purposefully let the zombies overrun me and my survivors in the two classic games to get those achievements.

So yea, I definitely recommend these games on sale if you want to go on a nostalgia trip. They often go for -50 %.

The definitive Yakuza game.

Yakuza 5 is a game of gigantic scale. On my replay, I've set out to complete 100 % of the game and after playing for nearly 20 hours I just got to Saejima's story. Yet, I am not feeling bored at all since this is what Yakuza is all about; long stories, tons of side activities, fun combat and at the end, you are an unstoppable force of nature if you have the time, patience and interest to see all the main- and side content through.

All and all, no other game in the series has managed to captivate and hook me as much into the world of the Yakuza series. Yakuza 5 is where the series peaked for me and while each and every entry in this series is close to my heart, 5 is definitely my favorite.

Start with this because in chronological order this is the first game in this masterpiece of a series. Plus it will get you introduced to the mechanics featured in this and later games.
